For the avoidance of doubt, are you talking about the young defender in the BN there, or your other, more cryptic, more intriguing suggestion...?GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:11 pmOn a side note, I think this is one where the papers on both sides have done everyone a favour on and kept quiet.
So if it's out now we might expect it to be basically done.

Both, I think, as it happens; but I meant our (possible) new Derry Boy. The Irish papers are usually pretty good for quid pro quo and Marc won't scupper anything by leaking.truewhite15 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:39 pmFor the avoidance of doubt, are you talking about the young defender in the BN there, or your other, more cryptic, more intriguing suggestion...?

Know nothing about it. You will know more than me. But just sounds like B Team stuff.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 2:55 pmYou may know more than I do there. Started the season with their U19s and would be making a big step up.
He's one we've been working on for a while. We're also looking at another Irish player on the younger side, but pretty sure he would be for the senior side and the deal might be a bit more expensive.
Iles thinks so too fwiw.
Funnily enough nobody seems to know who we might be bringing in tomorrow - which screams 'late deals', by nobody I mean nobody outside the obvious few. Good thing in itself...also suggests short term stuff and last minute possibly.

If we're no longer getting the two I thought then I've no clue. One I was told was getting done started at the weekend, so that might be dead - no idea.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:52 pmKnow nothing about it. You will know more than me. But just sounds like B Team stuff.

If the Aimson deal and John rehab has caused a violent swing in what we're going for then it might be even the club isn't sure. More so if we can't shift anyone, which Iles says is unlikely with what we now plan to do.
I thought Devine was basically agreed and just waiting for our green light and their fitness check, but if that's off too then I'm all at sea.
Not unexpected for a January, but a bit frustrating because I wanted those lads in.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Yeah nobody knows - anything - it seems. I know nothing on Devine but I'd guess its not happening. Based on a) the time taken and b) the sale of Aimson was less desired by the club than I think we believed.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 4:02 pmIf we're no longer getting the two I thought then I've no clue. Which I'd guess means we might be looking at a loan for a CB (Iles seems to be suggesting that) taking our compliment up to five loans. If that's the case then someone isn't getting game time and I doubt we'd do that. So I suspect Devine is not happening for that reason.
I think you'll know more than me because like I say its quiet - almost too quiet over the weekend.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
There was something that went on related to Devine a couple of days ago. I had expected that would be related to final agreements, but I suppose it could have been us saying "This is our situation now" and switching things up. I've not spoken to anyone since then, so am totally in the dark on that one. Like I say, I expected him to rock up today and he's apparently not doing - which is weird.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 4:09 pmI think you'll know more than me because like I say its quiet - almost too quiet over the weekend.
This will be a mad period even for people in the middle of it all. We just have to let them get on with it and hope they've figured it out. If we've let deals drop then the ones we've pivoted to have to work out. Big call, if that's what has gone on.

That's the chap. Thanks. One of him, please.Prufrock wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:24 amCallum Doyle. Guess it’s the kind of position a kid can impress in while young, rather than at centre-back. Centre-backs do exist, though. Didn’t one help Sunderland to promotion?

Definitely an encouraging sign. I’m predicting two more through the door tomorrow.

I know I’m a bit grumpy old man hates social media…but I’d honestly not read that much into Chris Markham making a biscuit emoji joke on Twitter. It’s not Lee Anderson and his emoji stream is it?brommers95 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 8:50 pmDefinitely an encouraging sign. I’m predicting two more through the door tomorrow.
I suspect it’s just a biscuit joke!

It's no longer antagonistic with Marc, they can have a laugh - which is lovely. Used to get frosty for him at times (not with FV and Evatt, in "the before times"). Certainly a biscuit joe.
What I will say is that the fact he's messing about probably means things have gone well today. When things aren't going well at the end of a window you have neither the time or inclination for a giggle on Twitter.

Cork City defender John O'Donovan could make our three Irish lads up. We're showing interest.

I think people just read too much into this stuff. Generally.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:06 pmIt's no longer antagonistic with Marc, they can have a laugh - which is lovely. Used to get frosty for him at times (not with FV and Evatt, in "the before times"). Certainly a biscuit joe.
