Pretty clear we want this Norwegian kid, Therkelsen.
I don't really see how he fits into "the plan" if he's not in that attacking unit for us.
If we're also after a more proven EFL striker then that's more that need to go.
However, having just added McAtee for £1m you're probably looking to add a younger lad to develop.
Wouldn't be popular if that was the move, though. Around a dozen career goals coming for Dion.

A real shame. If we'd got more money, or had another manager I might be hopeful. He's about to hit 30, has been off it for a while, and has his limitations.
But some feck* has to kick it in the net, and some feck* has to run around.
Will always love him, and the incredible moments (of which there were many) will always outweigh the "oh my god how has he missed that?" (of which there were many).

Perfectly summed up. Despite his age, that fee is a feckin insultPrufrock wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:13 amA real shame. If we'd got more money, or had another manager I might be hopeful. He's about to hit 30, has been off it for a while, and has his limitations.

Huddersfield will be pissing themselves. Suspect they thought we were genuine rivals this summer. They have dicked us at our own ground, scored one of the most comical goals I have ever seen against us, and now they are taking our top scorer for a steal!

Yeah he’s been off form but he and Evatt have fallen out. It’s a pattern. Evatt can’t cope with being challenged. The man has destroyed us.Prufrock wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:13 amA real shame. I don’t think I would miss many of these players but Charles is one at his best who is different. He’s not some technical fairy he does work his socks off and he puts his laces through it.
Selling him is one thing. Selling him to a club above us in the league for a paltry sum having wasted money similar or more on absolute unmitigated dross like McAtee is another.

There is a pattern throughout Evatt's time at BWFC, anyone (players or staff) who dare disagree with him is shown the door ASAP.

£750k for Dion Charles is an absolutely shite deal. There's no spinning it any other way.
And yet again, the managers ineptitude and poor attitude has cost the club vital income. Huddersfield low balled us because of him. They knew the predicament and took full advantage.
That's on the manager.

And yet in the same scenario 180 miles away, that predicament mattered not one bit, as we spent almost double Dions fee on an out of favour attacking midfielder that we didn't need
Just go for gods sake, Ian.
We didn't low-ball Peterborough and if we tried and they told us to feck off, we should have walked away. We paid full whack for him

I’ve said before I’d much rather a new manager come in and try and get people like Charles firing again. It feels criminal now that Evatt is being allowed to make big changes to the squad - both letting assets go and bringing in more expensive buys when it’s obvious to anyone outside of the boardroom that his days are numbered. I can guarantee that our next manager, whoever they are, would want Charles in their squad.

Maybe Charles will do well at Huddersfield, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he bombed.

I'm not bothered how he gets on elsewhere. We do, and will, miss him

They only silver lining I'm taking is he's one of, if not the, drawback to four at the back.
I'm past expecting Evatt you do it, but it makes it easier for the next guy.

He's in the top 3% of EFL footballers this season for Goals/Minute ratio, he's in the top 2% of EFL Footballers for Goal Involvements/Minute ratioThe_Gun wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:45 amWhen was the last time he was good, 18 months ago?boltonboris wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:32 amI'm not bothered how he gets on elsewhere. He hasn't been given 90 minutes once this season.
He bagged a hattrick in a league game this season.
Headline stats aside, his energy and workrate is unmatched in our team and we can't replace that. We look a worse team when he's not in it.

Khumbeni returns from Accy. I wonder whether we’ll be looking for a League One loan for him now?

Northampton away this season, he came on, looked like his old self and scored a good goal. Rest of this season, like the team, he's underperformed. Can only hope he's affected by the Wanderers curse, of very few players leaving us and going on to better things.
I'm assuming Evatt has already sounded out possible replacements if, as a club, we've been looking to get rid this window.

I imagine he may be required to fill a bench spot. It's looking increasingly likely that we're going to go for a conventional midfield 3 (i live in hope)
Whether that's with a Back 4, 3, or 5 remains to be seen

He had a really good game for NI, can’t remember which one but he scored and assisted j think. Then came back to treacle ball and was stuck in the malaise like the rest of them.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 11:32 amNorthampton away this season, he came on, looked like his old self and scored a good goal. I doubt it. This Terry Taylor at Charlton seems a likely addition, and then we’ve got Thomason, Matete, Morley, Sheehan and Arfield.boltonboris wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 11:33 amI imagine he may be required to fill a bench spot.
