Uhhhhh….no. Sorry but that makes no sense. Ryan Giggs managed Wales. Would he be a coup?

Page has a lower league domestic record. Which is much more relevant. Interviewing him would be odd unless we are just being polite. Or and I say in all seriousness don’t know what we are doing. And if Markham’s player recruitment is a guide….
Page has a good reputation in the game s a coach and recently managed internationally. If he applied for the job almost any League One club would interview him.

If Ryan Giggs' personal life wasn't what it is then he'd probably be seen as a coup for a League One side, yes.
He’s been unemployed since June last year. Hardly a hot ticket item.

But look if there was nothing at all - and club was pushing to appoint Schumacher or whoever and I was jumping up and down saying ‘they have to get Page’ you’d be telling the opposite story. He’s got a domestic managerial record. Tell me what suggests from that he should be Bolton manager? Managing a country is different to managing a club side as we’ve all seen. And he was sacked at that too.

I'd not be saying the opposite regardless of your view. I don't care enough about your view to do that.

I'd not personally want Page, but I also wouldn't throw a tantrum if we were interviewed.

He has a good rep, he's seen as an outstanding coach and he managed internationally. We are in League One.

I don't think his CV is as impressive as other names in the mix.

My reaction to him being interviewed is :conf:

By that criteria I assume we should be talking to Mark Hughes? Highly rated. Managed top flight for a long time. Managed Wales?

Stuart Kettlewell, generally seen as one of the most talented managers the SPL has seen for a while, just resigned citing fan abuse.

He looks like the sort we might seek to interview, if we've not made up our mind yet.
Aye, coz he wouldn't get any abuse off our numpties! :|

After this past few months under Evatt, with hardly anyone turning up last Tuesday v Charlton, season tickets due to go on sale in the next month or so - SB will not appoint an unpopular manager or she will be back to square 1. It has to be someone who the fans will get behind from day 1 and the majority of fans want Schumacher.

It won't be Fowler, Page etc. however if not Schumacher then it may possibly be someone like Edwards or Wagner.

He'd get abuse for being soft because he quit over abuse.

I agree on the ‘who would be popular’ but Markham is supposedly leading the process. I don’t think there is any guarantee he will agree with who fans think are suitable.

He may be leading the process but it will not be his decision, it will be SB and the boards.

I still think it will be Schumacher. Primarily because of the options available he has the best record for what we need.

Iles says Alex Neil would have been the choice (as far as very initial interest made known apparently) if Evatt went earlier and imo Schumacher is only free agent in that mould bar Lowe who seems to be less in favour generally.

I'm sure that it will be Schumacher unless he turns us down.

The fact he’s clearly had his agent push interest out through the media a couple of times suggests it’s unlikely he would unless we really mess it up.

I think that's probably correct.

I've no idea if the "correct" name has even come into the mix yet. We could get a completely left-field announcement at the end of the week, or it could be Schumacher after all.

I don't think I'm all that bothered who it is, to be honest. I want it done quickly, with a good procedure and then I want him backed. If the selectors do their jobs we'll get a decent manager. None of the names mentioned look like the messiah and few of them look like a dog's dinner (save a couple I don't buy). We need a solid coach with a good personality - they then need to be backed to the hilt by board and fans.

A lot of people complained about Big Sam and he was amazing. Most people were thrilled by Coyle and we wasn't.

Most of us on here would like Schumacher in, but he could flop and leave us looking daft. I'm going to assume Chris is putting a lot more work into analysing candidates than I can be bothered to do and that Sharon will get a more accurate read from the interviews than I have of them.

SS has just gone to 1/10 - someone must have put £50 on him this evening.

It could also suggest we haven't exactly been banging at his door.

It was Rob Page, pushing his own odds out, so he could cash in big.

Takes two to Tango. Just as likely an agent could overplay their hand and ask for way more than we're prepared to pay.

Has no one asked azzitbindone yet? "Close" sort of suggests "paperwork" rather than "a few left to interview"

I reckon it’s ‘done’ but they are not going to announce it till tomorrow to keep focus on the game tonight.
