You know at least a dozen people who are willing to travel to another country on a freezing cold Tuesday evening in February primarily because the opposition have a link to a film star? You want to be thinking about whose company you keep!

I went a couple times in the late 80's at the old Racecourse Ground, including the Robbie Savage promotion game in May 88

It's hard to say wihtout having a direct comparator, which Mansfield (where we played last month) nor Shrewsbury (where we've played four times in three years)
Genuinely intrigued to see if we can come up with a place we haven't played since 1988 or similar (and might reasonably play now, don't say Sealand Road or summat)

We haven't played at Torquay or Chester since 1992, Scarborough 1991, Halifax 1988, Hereford 1987. I reckon we'd sell tickets pretty quickly for any of those (maybe not Torquay) - but I can't argue that interest will also have been piqued by Wrexham's TV fame, their form this season, our old manager in their dugout, and our new manager in ours.
If you want to seek any older "not been there since" places, go to https://www.11v11.com/teams/bolton-wand ... singTeams/ and pick a club. Will we ever break our barren spell at New Brighton Tower?

I was on there just now to take up your challenge. In terms of teams currently in the EFL, I think Notts County in 1995 might be the longest.

I know people who have been talking about that aspect of the Wrexham game and worrying they wouldn't get tickets for the league game. They all bought tickets for the cup in case they can't go to the next one.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 5:32 pmYou know at least a dozen people who are willing to travel to another country on a freezing cold Tuesday evening in February primarily because the opposition have a link to a film star? Unfortunately, yeah, a big part of them wanting to go (or at least very much for their wives and kids wanting to go) is hoping to see Ryan Reynolds - who I very much doubt will be there, but that's another issue.
However, if it gets the kids more into it (they have season tickets, but are still picking it all up) then fair enough.

Blimey. It's hard enough getting away tickets as it is without competing against the star struck and insta crowd. We sold out Shrewsbury in 10 minutes too. Presumably many of those sales were to people into Gareth Ainsworth's band or sommat.

Yipp. This. Maybe we should do some spin-offs. Footballers "Love Island" - We could probably suggest some names. Footballer Big Brother, where we put some managers in a house and get a vote every week...Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 8:54 pmBlimey.
