Birmingham, it has to be said, are right at the peak of League One and look as untouchable as
catching moonbeams. With our new "one game at a time" philosophy and faith in our new boss however, we may yet produce a surprise package and break a few midland pots. What are the fors and againsts?

Againsts: Bolton aren't the dominant force of a year ago because clubs have spent money on new players and managers and the league is now a physical war-zone where literally anything can (and does) happen. We still have injury issues to key players that are far from resolved. Santos, Dempsey and now Vic are all facts on the minus sheet.

Fors: Our new man in the hot seat has given hope and belief that we can hold our own with any of them. Our ability to come back from the edge of defeat is heartening, but we need to be the ones in front not forever chasing the ace. The fans are also believing in the team and the dressing room looks settled. So....

They’re deserving favourites, but there’s no reason for us to be fearful. It will be a completely different game to yesterday - good pitch, fewer crosses and long balls to face. I think we’ve got a decent chance of getting all three points.

I’m still mildly annoyed at Evatt for completing surrendering to these before the game had even begun in the reverse fixture. Utter cowardice.

I think head over heart suggests the likelihood of us winning tomorrow is pretty low. That’s not being doom and gloom and pessimistic but simply a reflection that Birmingham have only lost twice this season, their last defeat coming in November and haven’t conceded a league goal for 5 games. They are probably the best team league one has ever seen - certainly squad depth wise.

I hope we have the energy to give them a game but I’d have been much more confident if this were a Saturday afternoon game after a full weeks rest. I fear that our exertions Saturday might hurt us in this one as it will be a game that needs a lot of energy and running.

I dunno, they're veryveryverygood and all that, but even veryveryverygood teams have wobbles - Todd's 98pt-ers shipped five at Southend, and christ that was a long journey home - so maybe just maybe...

If we did give 'em a game, whatever the result, it'd really give us a boost. Wrexham was the last trip to a top-8 team (as it stands) and after Brum we've only got Stockport and Wycombe to visit us, so we could really get on a roll...

Yeah it is a free hit really. A result would be a bonus. Yes I agree it’s not a ‘no chance’ game but stats suggest it is a long shot.

I’d be very happy with a point - but obviously we have to look to win it. If we get anything we are in a very good position for the run in.

For games such as this, we need to add set pieces, desperately, to our arsenal. We’ve scored some smart ones this season, no doubt, but when it does need to be crossed and not hit short for something training ground, we have to be better. It might just win us some fortunate points against superior opposition.

Totally agree. It was painfully obvious watching us struggle on set pieces in the Wrexham game.

We've had so many set pieces in games but not capitalised.
