Playing a Blinder. At home to the Peakies, Tues Mar 4th 19-45.
Birmingham, it has to be said, are right at the peak of League One and look as untouchable as
catching moonbeams. With our new "one game at a time" philosophy and faith in our new boss however, we may yet produce a surprise package and break a few midland pots. What are the fors and againsts?
Againsts: Bolton aren't the dominant force of a year ago because clubs have spent money on new players and managers and the league is now a physical war-zone where literally anything can (and does) happen. We still have injury issues to key players that are far from resolved. Santos, Dempsey and now Vic are all facts on the minus sheet.
Fors: Our new man in the hot seat has given hope and belief that we can hold our own with any of them. Our ability to come back from the edge of defeat is heartening, but we need to be the ones in front not forever chasing the ace. The fans are also believing in the team and the dressing room looks settled. So....
To battle then ....COME ON YOU WHITES...

They’re deserving favourites, but there’s no reason for us to be fearful. It will be a completely different game to yesterday - good pitch, fewer crosses and long balls to face. I think we’ve got a decent chance of getting all three points.
I’m still mildly annoyed at Evatt for completing surrendering to these before the game had even begun in the reverse fixture. Utter cowardice.

Birmingham have lost only twice in the league this season, with their most recent defeat coming over three months ago. I think a draw would be a good outcome for us.

We can beat this lot. I'm hoping the different approach and mentality that SS appears, so far, to have brought with him, gives us a chance. Our approach in the reverse fixture, where we looked beaten before we even kicked off, was Evattball at its worst.
I'll go for a highly optimistic 1-0 win.

I think head over heart suggests the likelihood of us winning tomorrow is pretty low. That’s not being doom and gloom and pessimistic but simply a reflection that Birmingham have only lost twice this season, their last defeat coming in November and haven’t conceded a league goal for 5 games. They are probably the best team league one has ever seen - certainly squad depth wise.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 6:17 amWe can beat this lot. I hope we have the energy to give them a game but I’d have been much more confident if this were a Saturday afternoon game after a full weeks rest. I fear that our exertions Saturday might hurt us in this one as it will be a game that needs a lot of energy and running.

And of course you said you'd be happy with one point from these two games so it really is a free hit for yaBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 1:52 pmI think head over heart suggests the likelihood of us winning tomorrow is pretty low. I dunno, they're veryveryverygood and all that, but even veryveryverygood teams have wobbles - Todd's 98pt-ers shipped five at Southend, and christ that was a long journey home - so maybe just maybe...
If we did give 'em a game, whatever the result, it'd really give us a boost. Wrexham was the last trip to a top-8 team (as it stands) and after Brum we've only got Stockport and Wycombe to visit us, so we could really get on a roll...

Some encouragement to be derived from Birmingham’s injury situation. I’d be specifically encouraged if Alfie May starts up top on his own, as he’s not caused us too many problems in recent seasons, albeit, it has largely been Santos that’s kept him quiet.

Yeah it is a free hit really. A result would be a bonus. Yes I agree it’s not a ‘no chance’ game but stats suggest it is a long shot.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 3:15 pmAnd of course you said you'd be happy with one point from these two games so it really is a free hit for yaBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 1:52 pmI think head over heart suggests the likelihood of us winning tomorrow is pretty low. I’d be very happy with a point - but obviously we have to look to win it. If we get anything we are in a very good position for the run in.

After just two games in a fortnight, we can hardly be exhausted surely?

For games such as this, we need to add set pieces, desperately, to our arsenal. We’ve scored some smart ones this season, no doubt, but when it does need to be crossed and not hit short for something training ground, we have to be better. It might just win us some fortunate points against superior opposition.
Re: Playing a Blinder. At home to the Peakies, Tues Mar 4th 19-45.
Totally agree. It was painfully obvious watching us struggle on set pieces in the Wrexham game.BorsdaneWhite wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 6:41 pmFor games such as this, we need to add set pieces, desperately, to our arsenal. We've had so many set pieces in games but not capitalised.

Spotted this... https://fbref.com/en/friv/players-who-p ... 3=--&t4=--
Nice squad build from those that played for both clubs:
Poole
Hunt Jaidi N'Gotty Charlton
Muamba Pollock
Blake
Jerome Jutkiewicz Heskey
Bench: Robinson, Lowe, JDC, Danns, etc.

Feck em. 2-1 Bolton.
Re: Playing a Blinder. At home to the Peakies, Tues Mar 4th 19-45.
Annoyingly, I've had to park on Car Park C instead of A today.
Re: Playing a Blinder. At home to the Peakies, Tues Mar 4th 19-45.
B team playing today. Indicative of CMG being in the squad later today, likewise none of the first team squad have been called upon.
Hutchinson, Westwood, Toole, Hogan, Inwood, Weston, Halford, Sharples, Eze, Andreucci, Isong (Hayes-Green, Irwin, Rice, Lawrence, Abimbola)

Plenty of in-ground rumours that Forrester has been ruled out for this one....

Yup. Confirmed Forino in for him.truewhite15 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 6:44 pmPlenty of in-ground rumours that Forrester has been ruled out for this one....
Modifying my prediction. FFS.
Re: Playing a Blinder. At home to the Peakies, Tues Mar 4th 19-45.
Forrester a huge miss. Let’s hope Forino can step up to the plate.
