I’d rather have been wrong. The fact is that the club have once again let the fans down. I know we have gotten used to this over the last few years but really now they should come out and address it ideally via the Bolton news and a full q&a style interview.truewhite15 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 5:03 pmYour continuous stream of "I told you so" is worse than the football. Again, he's hardly alone. His substitute partner, Klaidi Lolos (another whose versatility, we were told, would make a crucial difference in comparison to last season) has done similarly nothing. Kion Etete, signed as a final January roll of the dice, has at least not looked like a total novice today, but it's made ultimately no difference. And Joel Randall, Evatt's last great white hope, has been similarly pointless.
We wasted an entire summer while Evatt tried to decide whether he wanted to continue or not. We signed the wrong players. We wasted the entire first half of the season giving Evatt chance after chance after chance, despite humiliation after humiliation. We wasted most of January allowing him to sign players who were never going to turn the tide. And only potted him when it was too late for the new boss to make any material changes.
What a shocking season this has been.![]()
Seriously though it was infuriating watching it in slow motion. It was so obvious what would happen from April last season. I’ve accepted it now but the pain of failure at all levels of the club is one thing. The long term ramifications quite another. I worry we are destined for a permanent stay at this level. Permanent at least in many of our lifetimes. Thus far the club hasn’t shown the know how to escape this league the top end. And now when it’s clear a rebuild will be needed we apparently aren’t in a position to do it. Which is I think concerning. Sharon raised money yet it’s been spent and wasted - I don’t know what the answer is now but I’m concerned that I don’t think she does either.

Schuey was brought in to save the season. He has failed miserably. There has to be some accountability there. The team seemed to get worse under him, so I cant see nothing but a complete overhaul to get the players he needs.

For a start he says ‘this club shouldn’t be in league one’. That’ll do for me. He knows what is needed, worryingly he also states it’s hard with so many under contract.

"This team / squad doesn't have the mentality to get promoted, they need to learn to work as a team & defend, a bigger job than I expected, not good enough, they are such a frustrating team to watch, to coach, softest goals you've ever seen".

League 4 perhaps? Been years since Bolton saddened me this much.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 6:34 pmThe BBC one with Dearden is decent. We're clearly not going to be able to bin the lots off and start again, so I'm hoping a full pre season download and uninstall of Evatt2.0 will sort some of the basic problems. Add the inevitable moving on of some and a few incomings of Schumacher's sort and we'll be in reasonable shape I hope. I don't think they are all hopeless losers, just that some have fallen into it because that was the culture...when the going gets tough look at the floor and hope no one notices.

I don't mean to the extent where they should pack up and down tools. I was referring to it more as a 'this is unacceptable' for us to have this many shots and not score. Another manager would've played it softly, I suspect Schuey was more of a tougher taskmaster.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 5:21 pmI think that's harsh on the gaffer. He certainly didn't lay into them in public and I doubt someone as level-headed will have done so in private after a game in which we had 36 efforts on goal.Mar wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 5:16 pmRotherham was our last good performance and that was the turning point. Maybe Schuey gave them grief for not scoring. They needed an arm around them and praising for the efforts, it was one of those days. Instead I think he's just annoyed them and the Barnsley capitulation just reflected that.
Clearly what happened (Barnsley and onwards) was shocking - literally: Schumacher looked stunned on the sidelines at Oakwell. I've said a few times that he seems to be carrying out a full squad audit and man, has he found out.
I think that if this was his squad, it would've gone down in the right manner. Given its not, the players are probably not used to a private dressing down after a good performance and, given we had a number of wins prior to that, it's probably derailed the whole thing.
Lesson to learn for Schuey as well as the rest of the team.
Either way, we're 4 defeats on the spin, and 7 defeats in 9.

Forino speaks. Says fans deserve an apology. Suggests the players maybe talk a lot but don’t deliver.
Hmm.
He comes across well here in comparison to many I’ve heard speak. Honest and frank and clear.

Cheers for link. Heard this interview on The Last Word this morning and it's the tone I'd want a player to be striking after that shower.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 1:50 pmhttps://x.com/bbcrmsport/status/1914574 ... o4TppbHkNQ

Knew the expectations before he came and they were his expectations. Contrast that with Thomasons interview last week…maybe starts to show the fault lines in the club - the ingrained Evatt old guard who think fans and expectations are the issue vs those who have come in afresh.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 1:54 pmCheers for link. We deserved an apology after the play off final. We didn't get it. Instead we got months of quiet and indifference to the fans. The performances up to the play off final weren't good enough to get automatics (when we arguably should have), but then we bottled it in the play off final. Not even a shot on target.
The problems weren't addressed at that stage and they let it fester. A poor start to the season didn't help and neither did the board sitting in on Evatt's desire to leave.
They've had chance after chance to apologize and yet they've not delivered. This suggests to me that there's a culture at the club that's treating the fans with contempt, almost as if the good work accounts for good faith that should be shown. 'We saved your club', so we should be eternally grateful. Well we have been grateful, and we have put up with a lot (particularly under bad ownership), but we are paying punters who support.
The fans pay money for the club to deliver a experience. If you go to a restaurant and don't get what you ordered then it's right to complain, just like at football. We pay for a performance and getting served pitiful experience each week is well worth criticizing.
Forino's right in that the fans deserve an apology. It'd go down much better if the club came out and said, we've got it wrong, but here's what we're doing to put it right. I don't expect the club to be perfect.

Tricky though because post Wembley we didn’t really need apologies we needed action from those running the club. Instead we had a mess with silence followed by Sharon’s misguided interview and root and branch stuff. Then the same was required after we lost to Huddersfield and countless other times.Mar wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 2:22 pmDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 1:54 pmCheers for link. I know some bristle on here when an owner is ever criticised but I am not necessarily criticising Sharon or anyone I’m saying that whoever was responsible for giving Evatt a P45 post Wembley or on countless other occasions since really did make a mess. Whether that’s Sharon alone or the collective board or the DoF or whoever - that was a dreadful failure and the price for that failure will be heavy.

As one of "some who bristle," I have to say I'm not convinced by this apologising crap as some sort of mass group therapy, if they do, they do. We've been shit compared to what we should've expected this season, a few people are now seeking their next career moves because of it.
I can understand why someone who missed out by 4? points and / or one game at Wembley isn't maybe an instant dismissal.
I doubt Sharon, or any Board Chairmen don't take counsel before making big decisions, whether that's from Manager, DoF, their other Board Members or elsewhere. Probably why it's referred to on MotD as "the Emergency Board metting going on behind us."
There have been plenty of "big teams," stuck in L1 for longer than they'd like, switching managers, chucking cash at it.
I think I'm more worried about who's advising, the Chairman's main job is to ensure we got some money to do shit with. Others spend it.
