This is a very very serious interview. I feel we’ve hired a very serious operator here.

There is no guarantee that he will succeed, however its quite an appointment by FV to entice him from Standard Liege to League 1 (unless they didn't want him anymore ?)

No guarantees anything works in football these days but Harkin appears to bring an intensity I feel we’ve long lacked. No niceties. If you aren’t going to deliver and buy in we don’t want you.
Also makes very clear he wants a return to in person scouting. ‘My concern is the level we are at everyone has the same data……’ is very interesting.

More of a 'Division Three 2025/26' post perhaps, but Exeter have gone interestingly strong in their condemnation of Caleb Watts for not agreeing to a contract extension. Wonder if he's gone to Plymouth or something?

Plymouth confirmed. They've announced another signing today too - Jamie Patterson from Coventry.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri May 23, 2025 6:17 pmMore of a 'Division Three 2025/26' post perhaps, but Exeter have gone interestingly strong in their condemnation of Caleb Watts for not agreeing to a contract extension. My Sheffield Wednesday supporting colleague reckons we should be in for recently released Joey Phuthi. A lighting quick lad who can play wide either side and who many were expecting to be kept on. He's had a bit of a bad rap from Josh Windass this week for not responding well to being told to run more.

Ask your mate what he thinks of Pol Valentin, a fellow Hillsborough reject whom one website has asserted, with the usual chutzpah, that we are interested inHarry Genshaw wrote: ↑Fri May 23, 2025 7:54 pmMy Sheffield Wednesday supporting colleague reckons we should be in for recently released Joey Phuthi. He’s echoed what many of us have been saying on here for a long time regarding youth development and the age profile of our squad. I’d guess he’ll push the owners to return the academy to Cat 2 sooner rather than later.

I feel much more positive generally having heard Harkin than I did before. Not necessarily for next season but simply that we’ve now got the driven experience in the leadership I feel we’ve lacked and whilst I like Schuey not sure he brought by himself necessarily. So many things in the interview that I think are revealing - the fact he has spoken to Schumacher nearly every day since getting the job - be easy not to have - and the comments on the need for a return to in person scouting - plus his slide deck for a pitch to players discusses what players need to do to play for this club - feels quite big Sam era.
He isn’t a wizened old manager where I think most of us expected the in game experience to come from. But I think this is fine. He’s also got ideas backed by experience rather than just being ideas.
Certainly looking forward to see what he manages to do.

By their deeds, shall they be judged.

It requires a bit of capex investment for that to happen. Probably next year.The_Gun wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 8:44 amYeah, I really like that. Very impressive guy.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri May 23, 2025 5:45 pmhttps://youtu.be/rYa-mXEfZBQ?si=qQ6LjKLaPzDoRnyk

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
One more week then the window opens. I want us to sign a keeper (loan), a fast RB who can play LB and a CF who can head a football into the net and also hold up the football. Those would replace Baxter, Santos and Jones.
Then we sell Shehan ( Cardiff may be interested), MaCatee (just not good enough) and loan out Lolos, CMG, Forrester and Dan.
That would make room to sign a fast winger, a quick #9 who can run in behind, a central midfielder and another CH.
That's 7 new players I reckon. Just make sure they have some quality and are not easily injured. That would do it for me.

Just for interest sake; turnsout my grand-daughters boyfriend/partner, is a mate of Sam Inwood, our young Northern Irish defender prospect. Nothing more yet, but...

Walsall have just lost in the play offs. Does that make a Jellis signing more likely? 5 days and counting…….

Does it make an Owen Goodman signing less likely? Another clean sheet for the Dons, who will now be playing at the same level as us....Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 5:11 pmI seriously hope not, he was terrible - he's no better than anything we currently have and that's saying something.
On the other hand, Tommy Simkin in the other goal needs to step up a level, but would Jonny Walters loan him to Schuey? Would Schuey ask? If so, can we borrow Nathan Lowe as well?
