That's the correct name and available everywhere (not just Philadelphia). I like them too (along with many, many others - the poll was somewhat limited).perfan wrote:When I was in America I had sandwich which I think was called Philly Cheese Steak, a sub with loads of steak, green peppers, onion and melted cheese, absolutely lush.

You know you are getting old when you keep repeating yourself. Sorry, TD, couldn't resist.TANGODANCER wrote:Jamaica Bar in Nerja, Spain. Club Sandwich:
Slice of toast with thin ham, lettuce and tomato, topped with a second slice of toast, topped with rashers of fried bacon and a fried egg, topped with a third slice of toast with a hole cut in it with the fried egg showing through. Magical sandwich. Wish I had one right now.

You're getting even older when you check back on old posts about sandwiches.Montreal Wanderer wrote:You know you are getting old when you keep repeating yourself. Sorry, TD, couldn't resist.TANGODANCER wrote:Jamaica Bar in Nerja, Spain. Club Sandwich:

When we went to Portugal we spent our first night in Porto. After the shenanigans down by the river, we made our way back towards our hotel. Earlier our cab driver had told us to go and eat at his cousin's restaurant and, if we were hungry, to order the 'Francesina'.
We found the place and duly ordered. What arrived was, essentiallly, a tower of bread slices with a different filling in between. There must have been (I was very drunk) 6 slices of bread interspersed with ham, egg, cheese, steak and a burger. This tower was wrapped in cheese slices and then covered in the kind of gravy you get on your meatballs in IKEA. All this was served with chips, too.
I fecking loved it!

I shall tell thi what, I've just made a discovery. Well, I suppose that some sandwich explorer discovered it before me, but anyway:
Toasted bagel, Philadelphia garlic and herb jobbie, fresh wild rocket, smoked salmon, a few thin slices of cucumber = Lush. Do it
