Paul Ince - praise for a change

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

So they are going to have a new manager in place for the weekend, I think that its going to be Souness.
Surely not? Big fave in the betting mind.

Souness in temporary charge with Tugay acting as number 2 with a view to becoming the manager at the end of the season.

Whatever happens I hope that the banjo strumming dingle inbreds go down.

What a shame

Ince deserved a crack there, young english managers should be given chances, particularly when the end result may be blackburn going down

Just hope Archie Knox stays there. He's the one with the bad luck! Nearly relegated us last year, hopefully will go the whole hog this year.

Only two of the possible candidates can keep them up- Hughes and Souness

Hughes won't go back.

I hope they don't get Curbs. I like him, so i want him to stay unemployed and be our safety net for if we lose the next 6.

Souness nearly took them down last time.

Did get them promoted though...maybe they are planning for the future.

Exactly, and from what I remember he was about to get the sack anyway until Fat Freddie came along and Dollared them up for a guy that they were going to have to compensate.

I do feel a bit sorry for Ince in that he's rucked-up, seen Friedel and Bentley sold and then not really had time enough to mold his own side (Robbie Fowler and Matty Jansen not really counting). Still, c'est la vie.

This was definitely the right time to sack him. They need to hope they can get the "new manager boost" and win a few games before the January window opens. If they continued in this horrendous run of form you could bet on a January exodus, with replacements unwilling to come to a team so far adrift. Not saying it still won't happen, mind, but it was the right time to gamble.

Personally, I'm hoping they continue to suck and we can put in bids for Nelsen, Samba, Derbyshire, and/or McCarthy.

Of that list, I'd have McCarthy. Nelsen and Samba were beyond abysmal on Saturday, while Darbyshire is no better than a young Paul Wheatcroft.

No one in for Gamst Pedersen? Wouldn't mind him circa 05-06, doesn't seem to be doing much now though.

Not done anything for ages according to Rovers fans. Jussi would probably kick his head in given the chance as well.

We're already overloaded with left-footers . . . a welcome change from having to play my namesake at left back but we don't need to drop that kind of money on another one.

Looks like Sam is nailed on for this job now. Souness has ruled himself out!

Sam did too though remember, think the conversation went like

"yeah yeah, they chose Paul Ince over me in the summer so not interested. BUT I am interested in the Sunderland job. I haven't heard from them but it'd be really nice to talk. Really really nice. Please Sunderland"

Blimey ... has he ?

That sounds like he's led them a dance then, as he'd been at a couple of recent games and has clearly been in discussions. I got the impression that the hillbillies had already lined someone (him) up prior to shooting Ince.

Sammy Lee's probably available for a job of this stature Mr. Dingle.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Just based on this article...

Think Sam will be named before the weekend!
