But you say that most of the time about Bolton as a football team..Our ideas of both may differ slightly.
Only when we're shit! We're capable of so much much more than we show. I have too much faith in the lads, that's why I get so disappointed when they let themselves down.

Oh and thank God Tom Hanks got a hair cut for this one, he looked like an unshaven bear in the first one.

Watched Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe last night, thought it was good, as is most of Brooker's work.

My only real problem was that while making the point about the more violent and outrageous games creating a bad/false impression, in doing so he devoted such a large part of the program to showing and describing those games that it felt like he was contributing to the very same thing.

Hanks would never have been my choice for this role anyway. Not sure who, I'd have to think about that, but not him.

I didn't think they could ever make a film as utterly dull and shit as Da Vinci Code, until I saw Angels and Demons. Awful.
Whislt I agree totally on the former, I thought the latter quite decent. You must have been a little uncomfortable amongst all that religion.
But surely, to go to the cinema at all then one has to be quite comfortable with the idea of being spoonfed made up bollocks in the first place, no? :conf:

Twas but a joke Bruce as the film is shot entirely in the Vatican City. Anyway, I watched it on DVD.

Shot in the Vatican in secret too.

They were banned from shooting there after the Da Vinci Code, so instead they just went round the Vatican pretending to be tourists. Somehow.

I watch Angels and Demons on Monday night - enjoyed it - was closer to the book than the Da Vinci Code.

He gets a bit of stick Dan Brown but I thought Angels and Demons was a rock solid book. Helped I read it first.

I enjoyed the Da Vinci Code immensely, Angels and Demons was very readable. Brown's latest offering in this genre, The Lost Symbol, however, I'm not finding up to much. Overdoing things is a common habit when something works and because of the National Treasure films I think that's the case here. That and things like : "The New York Times praised the book as being "impossible to put down" and claimed Brown is "bringing sexy back to a genre that had been left for dead". I just hate the word sexy being used at every opportunity to describe thing totally unrelated in any way to sex (I prefer "sensual" anyway). I won't say anything more as I haven't finished The Lost Symbol yet, but so far it's no Da Vinci Code.

Octagon - first night of All My Sons by Arthur Miller. First production by David Thacker, the new Artistic Director. Really looking forward to it.

Let us know how it goes won't you, William? Saw Death of a Salesman there a couple of years ago - brilliant!

Tonight I shall be watching the bottom of a Stella glass.

I'm really looking forwards to this one.

Likewise, a month off the sauce ends right here, right now (well, after I've put some shoes on and walked to the pub it does). Shall be watching The Inbetweeners upon my return. :pissed:

Bruce - it is simply magnificent. The acting is just of a such a rare quality, and all through the cast, no weak links... I love the play, Miller writes with such heart...

It got about a third of the audience standing for the curtain call.. Three calls rather than the usual two...

I saw that production of Salesman as well - if you loved that, you'll be bowled over by this... I was...

Looking forward to this - we're in next Friday evening.

You said in another thread that there are several decent places to eat in Bolton. Now that I don't live or work in the town I've lost touch and we normally end up at The Olive Press. Where else can you recommend for a pre-show meal?

Cheers, William. I'll definitely go and see it.
