Only when we're shit! We're capable of so much much more than we show. I have too much faith in the lads, that's why I get so disappointed when they let themselves down.TANGODANCER wrote:But you say that most of the time about Bolton as a football team..Our ideas of both may differ slightly.Bruno wrote:Not at all, I was raised in a very religious household, and have studied many religious texts over the years. Oh and thank God Tom Hanks got a hair cut for this one, he looked like an unshaven bear in the first one.
Watched Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe last night, thought it was good, as is most of Brooker's work.
My only real problem was that while making the point about the more violent and outrageous games creating a bad/false impression, in doing so he devoted such a large part of the program to showing and describing those games that it felt like he was contributing to the very same thing.

Hanks would never have been my choice for this role anyway. Not sure who, I'd have to think about that, but not him.Bruno wrote:Only when we're shit! We're capable of so much much more than we show. But surely, to go to the cinema at all then one has to be quite comfortable with the idea of being spoonfed made up bollocks in the first place, no?TANGODANCER wrote:Whislt I agree totally on the former, I thought the latter quite decent. I watch Angels and Demons on Monday night - enjoyed it - was closer to the book than the Da Vinci Code.Bruce Rioja wrote:But surely, to go to the cinema at all then one has to be quite comfortable with the idea of being spoonfed made up bollocks in the first place, no?TANGODANCER wrote:Whislt I agree totally on the former, I thought the latter quite decent. I enjoyed the Da Vinci Code immensely, Angels and Demons was very readable. Brown's latest offering in this genre, The Lost Symbol, however, I'm not finding up to much. Overdoing things is a common habit when something works and because of the National Treasure films I think that's the case here. That and things like : "The New York Times praised the book as being "impossible to put down" and claimed Brown is "bringing sexy back to a genre that had been left for dead". I just hate the word sexy being used at every opportunity to describe thing totally unrelated in any way to sex (I prefer "sensual" anyway). I won't say anything more as I haven't finished The Lost Symbol yet, but so far it's no Da Vinci Code.Jakerbeef wrote:He gets a bit of stick Dan Brown but I thought Angels and Demons was a rock solid book. Helped I read it first.

Likewise, a month off the sauce ends right here, right now (well, after I've put some shoes on and walked to the pub it does). Shall be watching The Inbetweeners upon my return.Worthy4England wrote:Tonight I shall be watching the bottom of a Stella glass.
I'm really looking forwards to this one.

Bruce - it is simply magnificent. The acting is just of a such a rare quality, and all through the cast, no weak links... I love the play, Miller writes with such heart...Bruce Rioja wrote:Let us know how it goes won't you, William? It got about a third of the audience standing for the curtain call.. Three calls rather than the usual two...
I saw that production of Salesman as well - if you loved that, you'll be bowled over by this... I was...

You said in another thread that there are several decent places to eat in Bolton. Now that I don't live or work in the town I've lost touch and we normally end up at The Olive Press. Where else can you recommend for a pre-show meal?
