and there's the answer to your question - cos people will watch it....TANGODANCER wrote:Read some reviews on that and they're not too favourable in genaral. Not sure why they made another version after Prince of Thieves. Okay, it was Costner, but it had the right mix of action and subtle comedy to make it watchable. Rickman alone was worth the entrance fee. I'll probably still watch the new one.Bruce Rioja wrote: Got landed with the new Robin Hood on the way here. Sound enough if you like that kind o' thang. What I'd call a Tuesday evening-er, if you see what I mean, but my life wouldn't be lacking had I not seen it.

Men In Tights is still my favourite Robin Hood film. Has the right mix of action and subtle comedy.TANGODANCER wrote:Read some reviews on that and they're not too favourable in genaral. My favourite is the Disney version with Brian Bedford & Peter Ustinov voicing. seriously! but that might just be nostalgic.East Lower wrote:Men In Tights is still my favourite Robin Hood film. But i also love multi oscar winning Errol Flynn version too from 1938, saw that recently actually, a proper belter.
Prince of Theives is gash, and I have no desire to see this new one either.

Not better than the Fox and the Hound though, is it? Nor 101 Dalmatians (the original)...General Mannerheim wrote:

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Yesterday watched Easy Rider - loved that sound track.
And This is England 86 goi into its stride. Very funny. And a litle genuine emotion. Keep going, it may end up very good...
This afternoon watched The Orphanage which I recommend. it's a genre I don't really care for - but done well.
So difficult to fill the afternoons...

The one and only film of that genre worth a carrott is the one and only original and superbest;TANGODANCER wrote:You know, just for a minute there.....shakes head and wanders off....East Lower wrote:Men In Tights is still my favourite Robin Hood film. You'll have to explain to me how either of those fit into the Robin Hood genre?!Hoboh wrote:The one and only film of that genre worth a carrott is the one and only original and superbest;TANGODANCER wrote:You know, just for a minute there.....shakes head and wanders off....East Lower wrote:Men In Tights is still my favourite Robin Hood film. Anyway there is a link between MPFC and Robin Hood remember;
Robin Hood, Robin Hood riding through the glen
Robin Hood, Robin Hood with his band of men,
steals from the poor to give to the rich
stupid bitch..............

You stock just rose consideribly with me for that comment William, not quite the "Wild ones" but good.
Girlfriend wanted to take revenge on me for making her watch The Expendables the other week, and boy did she succeed, oh my.
Tonight, we went to watch Cyrus at the cinema. Now, I havent seen any reviews of it or anything but after seeing a couple of trailers I was expecting a kind of daft comedy about a couple who have to put up with the woman's son living at home and him being around all the time, leading to Will Ferrell-style funnies.
I was wrong. It turns out Cyrus is some sort of downbeat, weird drama that's very short on laughs and just has very little point in existing, barely anything of note happens in it! Many walked out of the cinema, a woman behind us started snoring at one point, others had phones out or were just chatting amongst themselves - looks like they were misled by the trailers too.
Avoid!
