Good interview with Holden. Like this guy more with every game. Amazing signing.
Good to see nothing changes. They'll be kneeing the back of people's knees and pushing players over the crouched body of someone behind them next.
Chinese burns & pulling leg hairs anybody ?
.... & Tom, really, yes, I suspect you may be. The lad's in great danger of being that creative midfielder we've spent years pining for.
But is he better than Veloso ? That's the real question.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

don't be ridiculous Bobo he cost us the square root of pretty much feck-all - how could he possibly be the talismanic ambitious creative midfield tiara purchase that will bring back the glory years?bobo the clown wrote: .... & Tom, really, yes, I suspect you may be. I think the thing about Holden is, that he's quietly effective - sometimes, unless you're watching him specifically, you could almost miss he's there - as opposed to say Muamba, who occasionally puts someone up 6 feet in the air, or smacks a goalbound shot into row Z near the corner flag.CAPSLOCK wrote:I'd say not looking out of place in a match against one of the best dozen teams in the world when your mate has an off day makes you a bit better than averageTombwfc wrote:Am I the only one that thinks he's a bit average?
Good enough for us like, but I'd be confident enough in saying that we're the best team he'll ever play for.
But no, he is probably not a world beater
I'm with CAPS on this, in that us moving to 4 in midfield scared the shit out of me. But I'm not sure I've noticed too many more gaps than when we had 5 in there, which is probably some indication of the impact that Moo and Holden working together are having.
I think it also reflects Elmo's workrate...Worthy4England wrote:I think the thing about Holden is, that he's quietly effective - sometimes, unless you're watching him specifically, you could almost miss he's there - as opposed to say Muamba, who occasionally puts someone up 6 feet in the air, or smacks a goalbound shot into row Z near the corner flag.CAPSLOCK wrote:I'd say not looking out of place in a match against one of the best dozen teams in the world when your mate has an off day makes you a bit better than averageTombwfc wrote:Am I the only one that thinks he's a bit average?

He doesn't spend much time in midfield though - not denying that his workrate isn't impressive.....
I think the amount of grass that those two cover is superb, but I fear they may suffer a burnout later in the season (fingers crossed that they don't). That amount of sheer physical effort must take its toll somewhere.

I think Holden is a class act. Always finding space regardless of how tight and compact the midfield is. High workrate and any criticisms anyone may have of him at this time, will more than likely fade away when he really gets used to the Premier League. Class player!

I agree with everything said about Holden. He looks terrific, but here's a question...MJH-12 wrote:I think Holden is a class act. .. Could you see him playing at a higher 'standard' than BWFC? Not sure I could

I don't see why not in a year or two. He's getting better all the time. But as has been said, he's great for us and I don't want any other team poaching him.boltonboris wrote:I agree with everything said about Holden. He'll need to add goals or assists to his game firstMJH-12 wrote:I don't see why not in a year or two. He's getting better all the time. I'm not going to start looking at flaws in Stu's game just yet, the guy came without a reputation and has built himself up into a fans' favourite after about 15 games for the club. I think he's class and will only get better.East Lower wrote:He'll need to add goals or assists to his game firstMJH-12 wrote:I don't see why not in a year or two. He's getting better all the time. Aye - can you imagine if both Holden and Muamba can make a trip to "Ye Olde Shooting Boots Shoppe".William the White wrote:agreed - but you can see the potential. he certainly has a powerful shot available.East Lower wrote:He'll need to add goals or assists to his game firstMJH-12 wrote:I don't see why not in a year or two. Effort.
I did say that over a month ago. I think he's had a very good month and so proven me wrong in that respect.bobo the clown wrote: .... & Tom, really, yes, I suspect you may be. The lad's in great danger of being that creative midfielder we've spent years pining for.

More Gary Speed than Jay Jay Okocha though. A creative midfielder would have to create something.
