The absolute king of teas is Lapsang Souchong. No sugar or other sweetener at all, please, but I like a little milk in it. Intense, smoky flavour. The tea for lovers of Laphroaig whisky. The day goes all wrong unless it starts with a mug of Lapsang.

Actually I feel like that about Earl Grey which loads of people love.

Nobody I've ever tried to foist it surruptitiously off on likes it either - and I've tried lots - along with some Green Tea. They both reside on the Tea "shelf of shame" - mocking me from the back of the cupboard.

Mind, fair comment about the Earl Grey and Lady Grey - never been able to foist them on anyone either - apart from the missus who drinks both out of preference. Occasionally when the tea mugs get mixed up, mine ends down the plug hole.

English Breakfast Tea for me thanks (which includes many of the Brands mentioned earlier - Typhoo etc.)

earl grey just takes like someone hasn't washed the cups properly - a faint aftertaste of fairy liquid...

lapsang souchong - smokey heaven!

the missus has just started drinking Chai latte Tea - only because she doesn't drink coffee and wanted summat posher to order in a coffee shop! yeeuch!

at breakfast - only very dark brown fairly traded "ordinary" tea will do.....

the lapsang is for the odd refined moment!
Green tea I also quite like - it has some of the bitterness of coffee...

can't stand "herbal" teas though - load of prissy wank....

i like bog standard tea also - though I rarely drink it, usually in the afternoons.

If i feel like a change from Lapsang (not often) I try Keemun, which is very, very nice and less assertive. Lapsang is also lower caffeine, which is good for me at the moment...

Pretty much my standard, with no desire to change it whatsoever. Habits of a lifetime etc....
