What are you eating and drinking tonight?

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
I've recently started drinking tea, and I quite enjoy it. I've been sticking to hierba mate or earl grey, with some honey added in. Any of you tea sippers care to give some tips as to what to try next?

A second-warmed stew and chips night tonight, with pickled red cabbage. Great winter fodder.

The absolute king of teas is Lapsang Souchong. No sugar or other sweetener at all, please, but I like a little milk in it. Intense, smoky flavour. The tea for lovers of Laphroaig whisky. The day goes all wrong unless it starts with a mug of Lapsang.thevza wrote:I've recently started drinking tea, and I quite enjoy it. Lincolnshire sausage, jumbo shallot and butter bean casserole. Mmmmmmm... Perfect thawing out food. Lubrication via an industrial Malbec.
Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
thanks for the advice, look forward to trying them as soon as I can get my hands on 'em; and bish, rest assured that my tea purchases are tear free

Nobody I've ever tried to foist it surruptitiously off on likes it either - and I've tried lots - along with some Green Tea. They both reside on the Tea "shelf of shame" - mocking me from the back of the cupboard.William the White wrote:You don't like it?Worthy4England wrote:I shall have to invite you to afternoon tea William.William the White wrote:The absolute king of teas is Lapsang Souchong. Mind, fair comment about the Earl Grey and Lady Grey - never been able to foist them on anyone either - apart from the missus who drinks both out of preference. Occasionally when the tea mugs get mixed up, mine ends down the plug hole.
English Breakfast Tea for me thanks (which includes many of the Brands mentioned earlier - Typhoo etc.)

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
earl grey just takes like someone hasn't washed the cups properly - a faint aftertaste of fairy liquid...William the White wrote:You don't like it?Worthy4England wrote:I shall have to invite you to afternoon tea William.William the White wrote:The absolute king of teas is Lapsang Souchong. If you want smokey, do bacon fries or austrian cheese or kippers.
But don't confuse my tea with it.

at breakfast - only very dark brown fairly traded "ordinary" tea will do.....
the lapsang is for the odd refined moment!
Green tea I also quite like - it has some of the bitterness of coffee...
can't stand "herbal" teas though - load of prissy wank....

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
i like bog standard tea also - though I rarely drink it, usually in the afternoons.
If i feel like a change from Lapsang (not often) I try Keemun, which is very, very nice and less assertive. Lapsang is also lower caffeine, which is good for me at the moment...

Pretty much my standard, with no desire to change it whatsoever. Habits of a lifetime etc....East Lower wrote:On about 15 cups of Tetley's per day at the moment
