Re: Elmander - "No obligation" to Bolton
How many words are needed for it to constitute a story?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Elmander - "No obligation" to Bolton
Either a bit carelessly worded by J.E, or just another Sun interpretation of someone's words for the sake of controvery and story-making. If he did say it he's ostracising himself with some fans and if he didn't quite put it like that..well, who'll make them belive it? Well done the Sun. Loyalty, we already know, doesn't figure towards a club paying him a weekly fortune when another club will jump in and do the same. Such is today's football.

I'm not arsed if we don't. I just hope he keeps putting his shift in and hopefully some more goals will follow.
Poor bugger is doing the running of two men and getting all manner of shite for doing it. If I was Johan, I'd want out too

This story is from the Sun?
In which case he probably said he was sorry for being shit and will play for free for the next three years.

I'd say it being in the Sun is prima facie evidence of it being a story.

Nor does it figure when a club chooses not to offer an existing player an acceptable contract because they feel they can get a cheaper/better player elsewhere. Such is life.TANGODANCER wrote:Either a bit carelessly worded by J.E, or just another Sun interpretation of someone's words for the sake of controvery and story-making. Re: Elmander - "No obligation" to Bolton
If we feel he is worth retaining we will offer him a contract that we feel is fair to both parties. We have no obligation to him. If we don't feel he is worth keeping we will not offer any contract and he is free to leave. Elmander on the other hand is free to accept or decline any offer we may offer him. There are no obligations on either side.

Now I'm confused.ChrisC wrote:.... He just happens to come out with this a week after the transfer window closes when he knows we can't sell him etc..
He has been very sly before January not saying anything bad about the club etc.. Saying how he loves working under coyle etc..
I think he thinks he can get a big move if he is on a free rather than if we had sold him because he would of had to go to whoever made a bid.
He couldn't have just been sold to any old body without him agreeing.
He's out of contract in the summer and can move anywhere, on a free if he so wishes.
Bosman isn't my favourite process, but we will do this to some clubs and have it done to us also. It's a pisser when you'd like to keep a guy, it's "why did we leave it so late ?" But when we've all decided he's a clown & we want rid it's " ... why haven't we binned him ?"
Meanwhile, we're looking at the young lad Pratley at Swansea on EXACTLY the same basis .... should we not do ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I believe we were trying the same thing with Ivan Rakitic, but it's too late. Schalke have flogged him.bobo the clown wrote: Meanwhile, we're looking at the young lad Pratley at Swansea on EXACTLY the same basis .... should we not do ?

Re: Elmander - "No obligation" to Bolton
All of which I'm well aware of, but until such time as what will happen, actually does, JE might have been better just saying " my future is undetermined right now" instead of " I have no obligations to Bolton" (if he indeed actually said that). Even on here that's promted a "well fxck-off then" response from some. Give The Sun an inch etc...Tombwfc wrote:Nor does it figure when a club chooses not to offer an existing player an acceptable contract because they feel they can get a cheaper/better player elsewhere. balls to him anyway the club has decided he's not worth the money were paying him and i agree. They have obviously written off his fee so to be honest i think we will be better of without him as we have been paying for nothing for the last 3 seasons. There is no loyalty in football anymore from players to the top so why should this be any different, sad but true.Just a shame how much we paid for him.

If he was that good to pick and choose he'd be on a pre-contract with a decent club already...

I think I'm at a point now where I'll be disappointed if he stays. He hasn't done even 50% of the work needed to have a new contract or even a renewal on equal terms.
Sorry son, but it hasn't worked out. Good luck for the rest of your career.

He hasn't done 50%? He needed to have scored 20+ goals by February in order to gain a new contract?Lofthouse Lower wrote:I think I'm at a point now where I'll be disappointed if he stays. He hasn't done even 50% of the work needed to have a new contract or even a renewal on equal terms.
