Its an interesting argument the "London gives us loads of cash" one. Of course, you could argue that (for example's sake, this being a football forum) the redistributed money that was spent on New Wembley, enriching the local economy in the short and long term, by providing jobs and income to local businesses from travelling fans, would have as easily suited the local economies of both Birmingham or Covenry, for a fraction of the investment costs.

Or, if thats too subtle for you, its a groundless argument.

As for how the money has been spent, fair play to the SNP, they have used it IMO very, very well. Still be a nice position to be in though. The one way money thing. And it is different England-Scotland than it is South England-North England LK.

It also seem fairly evident to me that the whole lot of us would be fooked without that London. I don't think this is a good thing, but I think it is a thing. It was decided by that crazy woman from the eighties we didn't need to make anything anymore. This brilliant idea was continued ever since, meaning our entire economy is based on hocus pocus number magic, and a service industry built around that hocus pocus number magic. All of which lives in London.

Domed we are. So are they, but in a white Elephant way.

I'm not, by the way, even arguing that this dependence on London means they should get all shit. 'Wembley' should have been in the Midlands, and the North-South divide, highlighted today, only looks like it is going to get worse. What I am saying is that if we could pull a Scotland, and get them to send us a load of free cash in return for hanging around, we'd be miles better off. I would have thought most would agree on that?

EDIT: My point is also that, given that is clearly not going to happen, I wish folk would stop whinging about that London. It's there, it has it's pluses as well as its minuses, even if it isn't ideal.
