But would they still be cheapish if we have just been given a load of cash for Cahill?

Depends where we're shopping.

Look lads, I've had this car started for three weeks now, the petrol is running low and I've only got three polo mints left. Where is he going?

You better fill up, sounding like you'll be going down to London now. Make sure you don't pick up any of their defence on your way back up.

Oh you'll be reet, they scatter at the first sign of stranger-danger.

There is indeed a danger that the £17m cheque handed over like a lottery win will raise prices elsewhere. It would be better to do a player-plus-undisclosed-cash so others don't know how much we've got in the back pocket.

Are Arsenal not a PLC? In which case, they'd have to divulge the fee

Good reposte.. I'm not actually sure. A Limited company doesn't have to show accounts until the end of the financial year I don't think..

Edit:

This is from the BBc with regards to Carl Jenkinson, who Arsenal have just bought from Charlton.
Jenkinson, whose transfer fee has not been disclosed by either club, is the Gunners' first summer acquisition following their sixth successive season without a trophy

No thanks, mate. I think we'd need about 5 for 1. ;)
