Re: Time to go
Just used them 2 as an example of names that have been mentioned in the last few weeks and months ofcourse smc has a far better record than pi. Maybe someone like lc is a risk but if 4 example smc was annouced as the new gaffer in nxt few weeks if wouldnt fill me with much more confidence than i have now maybe a young passionate manager could be the way to go.

22 points from 21 games, is what got Ince the boot.bobo the clown wrote:Your point is made. There are a lot I'd prefer less even than Coyle. (& Ince is one)thebish wrote:Paul Ince?jmjhb wrote:I'm in the "Anyone but Coyle" camp at the moment.
We have 9 from 16 so could only better Ince's record if we won the next 5...
Just a thought.

We have a young passionate manager now, and it's hardly going well, is it?M6 J24 Wanderer wrote:Just used them 2 as an example of names that have been mentioned in the last few weeks and months ofcourse smc has a far better record than pi. That someone tough has to be Souness surely!

If sunderland and wolves win this week and we lose tue night we will be 7 points adrift of safety that's too many. What's all this shit about that we can't afford to pay coyle and his backroom staff off?

Its shocking and very sad that our 'so called' chairman & owner are just burying their heads in the sand, and allowing this fcuking debacle to continue - we are fast becoming the laughing stock of the league (and certainly will be when b/burn beat us easily on TV on Tues)

Re: Time to go
First things first. I don't think Coyle is doing a good job but I don't know what we can do. We're down (so are Blackburn - tomorrow's winners aren't going to stay up so we might aswell roll some dice and save the fans the effort of standing in the cold) that's the top and bottom of it. So what good will it do to sack him?
There isn't a queue of footballing geniuses out there waiting to move to Bolton. If they do sack him he'll be replaced by one of the other riders of the managerial-merry-go-round who'll come in, demand some money, sign some players win a couple of games and then what?
What after ten games of next season when we're languishing half way down Division 2? Do we sack 'Curbs' or 'TWWTB' or Phil Neal or whoever comes in?
Sacking Coyle will not change anything. A lot of people want Mark Hughes in - Hughes is BSA mkII - you can forget watching any football if he gets the job and what happens when he quits because he's been hearing voices in his head or whatever.
We're always told that ol' Beetroot Face was 'one game from the sack' Let's stick with Coyle because if that's true eventually Euro glory is around the corner.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

I think we should have binned Coyle off after the first 8 or 9 games this season when it was obvious we were in huge trouble.coffeymagic wrote:First things first. We haven't.
If we'd got rid of him in the Sammy Lee timeframe and got a sensible, experience tested pro like Curbs or Hughes, or even Bruce we'd have been fine IMO.
I'm not sure now what we do. Because IMO once you've had the run of results Coyle has had then long term there is no coming back...I don't think he'll be Bolton manager in 2 years time....
Like you I think we've left it too late....
If (and when may be more appropriate) we go down, it'll be interesting to see what happens, will Coyle be given a new deal? And how long for?
A club like ours needs a good manager. We haven't got one, until we do, its a downwards spiral!

And the club that needs a bad manager is?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Probably should re-phrase that as we need a very very good manager to compete against better resourced rivals...Lord Kangana wrote:And the club that needs a bad manager is?

Well, I'm fcuking made up tonight
Still far from convinced - still some glaring weaknesses but some big ticks tonight
Fcuking off Davies
A bit of pace up top
Alonso was very good
Petrov was better
NRC and Muamba...immense
Rovers are very weak and we nearly didn't win - granted we 'nearly' won by 6, but we didn't
Lots of improvement required, but if we can use it as a starting point, there may be life in us yet

Re: Time to go
still think we need a third in there though. 2nd half tonight we lost any semblance of midfield control- (did Muamba pick up a knock?). perhaps Tuncay dropping off might help...
