I like curry, but curry does not like me. I tend to go Rogan Josh, very reasonable heat wise, and if done well, very tasty. I want something proper, no korma bullshit, but equally anything you'd describe as 'spicy' will leave me red faced and sweating blood. Flavourful but mild, form somewhere decent, suggestions?

Indeed - we're the same. Basic law re heat is that if it hurts on the way in it'll hurt triple on the way out, so why bother.

My favourite dishes are always the ones that involve spinach, by the way.

tonight I made my first pie - recipe from my Hairy Bikers Pie Book (which I got for christmas along with a Hairy Bikers Square Pie Dish!)

it was a chicken* and mushroom pie with short pastry base and puff-pastry top...

It was (though I say it myself) a total and awesome triumph!! and utterly delicioustastic! (even clean plates from the kids..)

(* in my case - quorn chicken-style pieces)

I generally find that quorn is fine if it is in a sauce of some kind - then it kind of adopts the flavours around it and adds texture..

so - quorn mince (not the horrid TSP - soya mince - yuk!) - tastes fine in a bolognese or a chile

but on its own - it tastes like old cardboard... (like in the sausages...)

I popped in Morrisons on the way home as I was tea less

Spotted some smoked fish, basa, never heard of it but I wanted smoked and it was cheap so it was chosen

Pre-prepared mediterrenean veg selection from the same place and launched it all in the oven...30 minutes later, sat down and can't speak highly enough of basa

Turns out its also known as 'river cobbler' which I had heard of
