Re: The Battle of Stamford Bridge
We did OK last year and deserved a point. We were 6th at the time.
All being well I shall be down there for this one again - with the home fans this year.
Any pre-match tinctures being organised?

Is right... I get freebies to Chelsea quite a lot and there are no fans worse than theirs for getting on the team's back for not steamrollering somebody they deem to be below them (this is not an exclusive club).Athers wrote:Do NOT concede early and see how we go, frustration would set in if it's 0-0 after half an hour... (which is a joke but is the reality)

Even moreso if the euro game goes badly.May even be AVB s last game. get the impression a few chelsea players want shut of him. Mourinho seems to haunt that place like some malevalent shakespearian ghost.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Is right... Beware Daniel in the Lion's Den. AVB will have debriefed his agents Herr Cahill und Sturridge and all weaknesses will be laid bare. Thrashing upcometh me thinks.

This always makes me laugh...
No offence, but a manager like AVB isn't going to sit Cahill and Sturridge down and ask them the best way to get at us..

Well earned victory for the Whites is on the cards as long as KD doesn't play.

Even if only to verify what their scouts know, who's easily got at, who's the nervous types, how certain players take free kicks or penalties ...
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

They do, like, 50-odd page dossiers on each teams corner routine from the left when X,Y and Z are playing etc.... They won't need to ask Cahill, and certainly not Sturridge to find out the set piece routines we work on in tr.....oh.
Ah.
That should flumux them!

It'll be reet, we'll confuse them by conceding 5 early on and switching to a 1-1-9 formation and pulling a goal backSponge wrote:Prufrock wrote:They do, like, 50-odd page dossiers on each teams corner routine from the left when X,Y and Z are playing etc.... I can see Torres ending his long goal drought, and Lampard scoring a pen, even though Chelsea have been shit recently that will all change come sat 3-0 to them. Hope i'm wrong!

I like the fact he's talking about keeping a compact shape and trying to break on them.Maybe the penny really has dropped. Just hope he's smart enough to stick with that even if we conceed one or two.

Re: The Battle of Stamford Bridge
I thought I'd got to a stage where the team, for me, picked itself:
Bogdan, Steinsson, Rickettes, Knight, Wheater, Muamba, Reo-Coker, Eagles, M Davies, Petrov, Ngog
Now, in my mind, there are questions over one of the centre backs (for Ream), Petrov (Miyaichi) and even Eagles (Tuncay).
I suppose this is good news. Competition for places and all that. I reckon I'd still go with my original 11, although I'm very tempted by the idea of replacing Knight with Ream. But that's off blind faith, since I wasn't at Millwall.
I'll stick with my original 11, but with no hesitation in bringing Tuncay on in place of Eagles if he's having an off day; a guaranteed appearance for at least 30 minutes for Miyaichi, unless Petrov is playing out of his skin; and safe in the knowledge that if Knight looks suspect, Ream is in the wings (even though I know it's sometimes a mistake to upset a backline mid-game).
Fingers crossed that'll see us through to a point. Which would be an amazing achievement.

If I was going to play Ream, it would be in Wheater's place.

Just basing my musing on the fact he kept a clean sheet with Wheater at the Den.boltonboris wrote:If I was going to play Ream, it would be in Wheater's place.
I guess he could be a ready-made replacement for the poorer of the two, but at least Ream and Wheater have had some competitive playing time together. And kept a clean sheet.

Re: The Battle of Stamford Bridge
Can't fault the thought process of Owen's Eleven, although I'd say Ryo could also come on for Eagles - he can play on either side, and if Cashley's suspended, Ryan Bertrand might not like having a fast fecker flying at him for the last half-hour.
