There's still a decent amount of coverage in the championship. 13 of west hams championship games were televised live on skysports/BBC. Plus Skysports post highlights after each game on your teams page

I was going to say hear, hear. However, apparently in modern vernacular that's now 'fecking A'Bijou Bob wrote:As I've repeatedly said for a couple of months now, I'm not phased by relegation and frankly, I CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT SEASON![]()
For the first time in 3 years I'm having a season ticket, and I've every intention of doing a good few away matches. New grounds, proper football and the knowledge that every week we could win....it's everything the Premiership should be.

I think

There would be a great sense of achievement if we make it up again next year. Whilst I've managed to celebrate "staying up", "qualifying for Europe", "getting to Cup Finals" etc. Going back up would be a great party.

With BBC scrapping its coverage (obviously youre nothing if youre not Premier League), it might be harder to see much action unless youre there or have Sky which I dont.
As a West Ham fan, how often were you finding your games re-arranged for telly? One of the gripes I had about Premier League was how you could never really make travel plans far in advance because your fixtures would always get chopped and changed.

Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.
Re: The Barcl.... npower Championship
Correct me if i am wrong but i think only 5 of the clubs currently in the Championship have not played in the Premier League
(League 1 play-off not withstanding)
Bristol City
Cardiff
Millwall
Peterborough
Brighton
Strong league.

I'd say it's pretty much the same as the premier league. A lot of west ham fans were so annoyed the Brighton away fixture was moved from a Saturday to a night in the middle of the week without a lot of notice. Many of the games at the beginning of the season were adjusted from Saturday's to Sunday's purely for tv coverage..even the first game of the season moved to a sunday

Re: The Barcl.... npower Championship
As have Bristol City. My first match watching the Wanderers in the top flight was against Bristol City at Burnden in 1978. Gowling scored for us. Am pretty sure that Gerry Gow scored an absolute beauty for them. It was on MotD too. My Nana and Grandad let me stay up to watch it too, despite my Nana saying "You've already seen it once". Strange the stuff we remember!Annoyed Grunt wrote:Both Millwall and Brighton have played top flight football...old Division 1.Bruce Rioja wrote:Seriously, this whole 'Football only started 20 years ago' thing feck me off quite like nothing else does!TTID wrote:Correct me if i am wrong but i think only 5 of the clubs currently in the Championship have not played in the Premier League

Re: The Barcl.... npower Championship
Me too Brucie. I rember thinking, nice easy start to the First Division. Completely passed me by that they'd finished somewhere in the top half the season before. I'd only every really known Bolton winningbefore that - albeit as "nearlymen" for a season or two. Gerry fecking Gow broke the hopes and dreams in one 90 minute period. Bossed us from start to fecking finish.Bruce Rioja wrote:As have Bristol City. My first match watching the Wanderers in the top flight was against Bristol City at Burnden in 1978. Is this a fact WW? I always thought the parachute payments were guaranteed income no matter what.Wandering Willy wrote:No - if you go back up your parachute payments are replaced with the regular Sky PL money.

In which case, what do they do with the money instead?

No - just what I was told.
It makes sense though - otherwise if you went straight back up you would get your £45m (say) for being in the league that year plus £14m parachute payment for being relegated 2 years earlier.

Seems fair, though I'd much prefer the double dip if it was us benefiting from it.Relegation often has devastating financial consequences for club owners who not only lose TV, sponsorship and gate income but may also see the asset value of their shares in the club collapse. Some leagues offer a "parachute payment" to its relegated teams for the following years in order to protect them from bankruptcy. If a team is promoted back to the higher tier the following year then the parachute payment for the second season is distributed among the teams of the lower division.[6] There is of course a corresponding bonanza for promoted clubs.
