What are you eating and drinking tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

San Carlo.

Mancini in there a lot.
Thanks for the heads-up on this one, Fella. They (and I) absolutely loved it. Fantastic place, service and food. I had pasta with crab claw meat, tomatoes, garlic and chilli. It was that good that I didn't want to send any back and tried to finish it all (and failed) despite being as full as an egg. My guests spoke to all the waiters in Italian - I was hoping that they might have caught one or two out ("Mi name's not really Giuseppe, it's Carl") but nope :D
Pleased that it was good. I've had that crab pasta dish and it is truly sublime.

Only trouble with San Carlo is I never really fancy going to an Italian restaurant now, unless it's San Carlo....

Perfectly understandable. I still recommend San Marino at Belmont as well if you haven't tried it already, it's excellent. Just found out when chatting to Our Kid that San Carlo is the only place in Manny where his F-i-L (Italian fella, salt of the Earth) will eat.

And the bechamel sauce? ;)

Actually, I tried to make my own bechamel once and it was an absolute disaster that ended up all over the kitchen. There were bits of it that I had to get off with a wallpaper scraper!

Tonight was just one of my favourites - what have we got going in the fridge?

Turned out as... Courgette salad, red pepper salad, humus, garlic dip, chicken marinaded in garlic, chilli, cumin, coriander, olive oil, then griddled, lettuce, french dressing, smoked salmon with pesto and garlic, and breadsticks and toasted hovis... Was going to do a little blue cheese but too full... who needs balance and stuff?

Macon Villages from France and Aldi...

Actually, what GG is describing there is a sauce Mornay. A basic Bechamel is just butter, flour and milk. For Bruce's reference, if you make sure all the ingredients (butter/flour mix and milk) are seperately hot before combining them, you shouldn't go far wrong
.

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
