True, but is the intent real or just rumour. Just seems a bit odd.

There are plenty of players who think they're too good for Bolton. Very few have proved that. If they don't want to play for us, feck 'em.

Yup, Oracle has confirmed that Lonergan is having a medical. He says there is no harm looking at Cisse, I would suggest that is either:

a) Forces Sanchez hand to try and gee him up
b) Actually uncovered a bit of a gem, Bristol City best perform and a stand out performer in Championship
Pfffft.

I know little if anything about them, Chief. On that basis, ask me again at Christmas. ;)

Itchy trigger fingers, lads? Only evidence for Mark Davies "wanting to leave" is a notorious bullshit-machine laughingly called Vital...

Well, firstly, why on God's Earth would anyone sign Guthrie and then look at Mavis ? Mavis is the better of the two, admittedly, but they'd be doubling up.

... & Cisse. Left Bristol City at his contract end & is, so far, without a club. ????? Fool, idiot, who in their right mind would do that ... arrogant & spoilt to. NRC will tell him.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I guess someone who has lots of confidence in their ability, wants to earn more, and want to come to Bolton because his brethren (Matt Mills) now plays there too. Also, the door apparently is still open for him at Bristol City, unlike NRC(Hopefully our door is completely locked for NRC)

Not sure about signing this Lonergan bloke. Reports aren't suggesting he's better than what we've already got and for £200k thats seemingly a decent amount of money, especially considering that keepers are going on free deals (see Robert Green and Jaaskelainen for example), seems a lot to be paying for someone if we're looking at using them as cover.

Still its nice to have extra players around and we certainly needed another experienced goalkeeper, going from having 3 decent keepers in the squad to only having 1 in the space of two years will really take a hit on the club.

Hopefully the guy will do well but at the same time I don't want to see us dislodging Bogdan. Hopefully a run out on the 29th of August will be his debut and we can see for ourselves.

I would imagine he is cheap (wages). Lonergan has only played in the lower leagues and so is going to be on a lot less than Jussi was.

Meh...would have been one on Coyle's list of requirements, not the most glamorous of signings but it's done and he can be chalked off and OC can concentrate on the next one.

We needed an experienced keeper and he is proven at this level and relatively cheap. Bogdan is still unproven and promising. He has to prove he isn't a half season wonder (I don't think he is one) and having Lonergan is both competition and insurance. Hopefully it means we can loan one of the younger ones out to gain experience as well.

I always believe your defense wins titles, and what OC has done this summer is to try and strengthen our defensive spine which let us down so badly last season. The tippy tappy stuff will be successful only if you don't leak goals.

Bogdan needed competition to ensure he stays on his toes, and to ensure that we are not weakened if the injury bug bites. I wouldn't feel too confident if we had to depend on our 2 promising youngsters if that happened..

In Mills and Andrews we have players with strong characters, something we were lacking last season. We need to sign one more strong defensive midfielder as it does not seem likely that we will see Moo this season.

Compliment that with a couple young promising loans from the Premiership and I would think we will have a good season.

IF OC has finally realised you need a big bastard in midfield and his pursuit of Sanchez, who is allegedly that, and Cisse suggests he perhaps has, then it's thumbs up from me.

We had virtually no midfield presence last year.
