Is it Ian Dury?

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Probably best to check a few tracks out on line first, but 59 Sound is the album that they'll always be measured by/against.

If you do like it then I further suggest you (and anyone else too for that matter) check out New Miserable Experience by Gin Blossoms.

I'm glad someone else agrees.

Is it that bad? Not heard any of it yet other than 45. :(

It's 'er mother's birthday soon. Last time I was down there she mentioned liking the Black Keys' latest effort so I'm going out on a limb and getting her this:

I'm obviously now also playing it. It really is a belting album. When the second came out I thought I preferred that, but going back over Broken Boy Soldiers I'm not sure!

Had a couple of plays of the slow accoustic version of Motorhead's Ace of Spades. I like it.

Switch the speed on the gramophone from 33 to 45.

A little bit of Gershwin (G) and a little bit of Bernstein (L). I really should get hold of a few more recordings of both composers' works. Why they appeal so much, to me at any rate, I have yet to understand, but appeal they do.

In this case it was Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Prelude for Piano No.2" and Bernstein's "West Side Story" (9 dances from the musical.)
