Is it Ian Dury?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Probably best to check a few tracks out on line first, but 59 Sound is the album that they'll always be measured by/against.thebish wrote:
blimey - I'm so not with it - never heard of Gaslight! (was there a good album I should know about then?)
If you do like it then I further suggest you (and anyone else too for that matter) check out New Miserable Experience by Gin Blossoms.

Is it that bad? Not heard any of it yet other than 45.

Re: What are you playing tonight?
It's 'er mother's birthday soon. Last time I was down there she mentioned liking the Black Keys' latest effort so I'm going out on a limb and getting her this:

I'm obviously now also playing it. It really is a belting album. When the second came out I thought I preferred that, but going back over Broken Boy Soldiers I'm not sure!

Had a couple of plays of the slow accoustic version of Motorhead's Ace of Spades. I like it.

Re: What are you playing tonight?
A little bit of Gershwin (G) and a little bit of Bernstein (L). I really should get hold of a few more recordings of both composers' works. Why they appeal so much, to me at any rate, I have yet to understand, but appeal they do.
In this case it was Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Prelude for Piano No.2" and Bernstein's "West Side Story" (9 dances from the musical.)
