Re: Time to go
So what I think you're suggesting is that this is our last chance saloon? This season, no other? If we get it wrong this season that's IT, done for.Lord Kangana wrote:We have to get promoted this season, or our budget will indeed equal the likes of Burnley.Worthy4England wrote:So g'wan, give me a clue how fooked we are.
Under those circumstances, I'm looking for a bit of inspiration.
I need to know who it is thats going to stop that. Because its abundantly clear that from now on (much like Wenger at Arsenal, and look at the shit from know-nowts that gets thrown at him) we are now working to a policy of balancing the books. Thats it. Little, indeed probably no more borrowing-based spending. With a general intention of paying Uncle Eddie back in the meantime. The good times have gone.
If that's the case, I might want to review giving him until the end of September before I get really pi$$ed.

Re: Time to go
True, though Adkins didn't do as well as Coyle prior to going to Southampton if you're basing it purely on levels they've managed at. Don't mind going to the lower leagues if the right candidate is down there. Like we did for Allardyce....Bruce Rioja wrote:Indeed he is -but not half as well as Owen Coyle was.BWFC_Insane wrote:Yes. Thought he is doing well as a manager apparently.Bruce Rioja wrote:You're taking the piss, right?BWFC_Insane wrote:Dean Holdsworth.Lord Kangana wrote:Precisely. Thats the tools he'll have. And with little, if any, extra funds to invest.
So then, who is this saviour who will come in and work for nowt with nowt and guarantee us promotion? From where I see it we're f*cked until people understand we're f*cked. Then we can start to rebuild.
Was joking about Holdsworth, mind given our track record, who the feck knows....

Re: Time to go
Indeed Worthy. What I'm pointing out is that if we do get someone else in and expect immediate results, it may just kick us in the nuts. Perhaps a young manager with the remit of 3 years to help restructure the club, cut his teeth and, ultimately, get us promoted would be the only viable solution. That or gamble on the usual suspects. Which may reap short term dividends, and maybe thats all that a club like we can hope for. But it would still leave us in the dangerous yo-yo-then-overspend spiral. that can't last indefinitely.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Win the next three and we won't have to worry about bringing anyone in, until middle of September at least.

Re: Time to go
He did indeed, and it requires someone with a better understanding of corporate finance than I (Yes, Worthington. You!) to explain it. Garty also said that the money we owe ED is owed to Moonstone Investments? Garty said that this was a trust, but as far as I could see when I got home - they build collapsible Brazilian shopping malls. He went on to say that if ED wants to take his money out then he has to put the same amount back in. How the feck does that work?BWFC_Insane wrote:Gartside was clear at the fans forum that we are not paying Eddie back and he doesn't want it back. He also said that there are interest repayments to him put through the books for tax reasons, but in reality we are not paying it.

I didn't make a lot of sense, but I think he was basically saying as owner of BWFC Eddie would have to put money in, so as to repay the money he's already put in.......Bruce Rioja wrote:He did indeed, and it requires someone with a better understanding of corporate finance than I (Yes, Worthington. Or lose value icon the company he owns by resource stripping ultimately to the same effect of losing money.....
That was my simplistic understanding of it.

Re: Time to go
I understand that LK, my main contention with Coyle is that he hasn't done as well as I'd have expected with the resources he's had. He had a great start and was a well welcomed change from HWSNBN. But he's actually never been anywhere long enough to be on the downturn and as soon as it looked like happening at Burnley, he hopped to us. So it's really new territory for him and unfortunately, I've not seen anything to tell me he has any conception of "what happens next". We had that few games in Jan/Feb where we went 4-5-1 and I thought maybe he'd got it, then we played Norwich away and I thought back to square 1. You get the impression that he thinks the only way you can win a game is to play 4-4-2 - which is fine if he's signed the players who can play that formation - but he hasn't.Lord Kangana wrote:Indeed Worthy. So I look at his signings, I look at his resources, I look at how we're set up as a team, I look at our results - and I have no confidence in him at all.

Re: Time to go
I'm confused as to what you are saying then. I understand that you're under the impression that we're working on pennies, despite assurances from manager and chairman that that isn't the case, but that's your view, and I can live with that, even if I don't agree with it.Lord Kangana wrote:Sorry, I'm getting senile in my old age, please could you just give me a reminder where I've put anything even remotely close to that. Fantastic, that one...Lord Kangana wrote:Precisely. Thats the tools he'll have. And with little, if any, extra funds to invest.

But your comment of "We're fecked until people understand we're fecked. Then we can start to rebuild". I just don't get it. Are you advocating that we just say "sod it. Let's not change anything in the hope that we'll get something better, because we're at the financial level of League 2, so we might as well just get there by the quickest means possible"? I understand that you're cynical of the financial nature of football in general, and us in particular, but that just seems pessimistic in the extreme. Or have I misunderstood again?

in what way did I say anything even remotely close to that??BWFC_Insane wrote:
So what youre saying is, we'd have been better placed, when we were a premiership club, of 11 years and still in it to attract a better manager? Say last November....

Re: Time to go
Does a lack of money explain
1 buying Sordell and not using him
2 his treatment of Muamba pre Spurs
3 putting LCY on for his first game in 8 years when we're defending a lead
4 reverting to 4-4-2 v wigan despite being on a good run 'cos it worked once before'
5 chopping and changing our back four more regularly than I change my crackers
I accept there's not the money we had
We've still spent more on this shambles he's assembled than most teams in this Division
Our wage bill will also be at the top end
He really has no excuses

badly phrased, I'll grant... I meant "desperate enough" to not hold out for a club with a better transfer pot on offer - and/or some semblance of premiership stability.

are you now saying that back in november we had an enviable transfer pot and a semblance of premiership stability???????????BWFC_Insane wrote:thebish wrote:in what way did I say anything even remotely close to that??BWFC_Insane wrote:

We are resembling Einstein's definition of insanity: doing the same things over and over yet expectingdifferent results. Specifically playing a 4-4-2 when we do not have the personnel to play that system.
