Re: 'Ull V Bolton
He played 4-5-1 away at a lower-division team, which indicates he might be happy to do so away in the league.
However, he also dismantled that 4-5-1 to reintroduce the captain, which indicates... oh I don't know... finish the sentence yourself.

Why? Is steve bruce really more clueless than captain clueless?Verbal wrote:Steve Bruce is probably one of the only managers I would consider with less tactical nous than our Owen.
I'll stick my neck out and say we'll win this. Comfortably.
I think we'll lose even though we should have a fair chance of winning. I think we'll play 442 and there will be some stupid substitution at some point that takes the game away from us.I cant see us picking up more than a point a game with coyle in charge evenat a lower level and I cant see spearing being a little fella with a big heart being capable of plugging all the holes necessary to make things better.
I admire your ability to see some hope somewhere. I hope you have better eyes than me.

They'll tear us to smithereens. It's pointless even discussing it further.

Have we EVER beaten a team managed by Steve Bruce?

Why? Why, you ask? Because I've had about four hours of sleep, am currently on my third caffeine dose and am also seeing some ferocious, FEROCIOUS shit from this doobie I've just smoked. That's why.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Why? We put three or four past Wigan and Birmingham at home under Megson I think. He must have been managing one of them at that point.

Wigan, IIRC. Megson seemed to beat pretty much all of our rivals at least once, even the rags.Tombwfc wrote:We put three or four past Wigan and Birmingham at home under Megson I think. He must have been managing one of them at that point.
Still a massive knobhead, though.

Even the sensible/conservative/old* ones have turned now.
Two possible scenarios. 1) we start winning or 2) we don't start winning and Coyle goes. Not sure he'll go after Hull but there is a break coming up so it would give us some time.
*delete as appropriate.

Re: 'Ull V Bolton
Given the fall in revenue after relegation, I would have thought the club were banking on a couple of cup runs for the income, so after last night's result I think the writing could well be on the wall for Coyle and nothing less than 5 points from the next 3 games will do.
Struggling to call it for this one, but I'm thinking a win is on the cards. 2-1 cos there's not a hope in hell we'll keep a clean sheet.

Thing is, and as much as I will get mocked no doubt for saying this, I'm not one to normally call for a managers head. Not until the last possible moment at least.Armchair Wanderer wrote:Even the sensible/conservative/old* ones have turned now.![]()

But in Coyle's case I was utterly convinced he was taking us down this season, and the start of this season leaves me convinced that we are just treading water while he is in charge.
The point at which I realised how bad things were was Chelsea at home last season. We did actually play a 4-5-1 of sorts. And NGog was up front. I remember Luiz went right through our midfield up to 6 yards away from our area before a half hearted challenge. And thought "any minute now Coyle's going to tell a midfield player to pick Luiz up when he comes out with the ball" rather than let him part our midfield like the red sea. But no. He did it again. And again. And again. And Coyle sat there.
I knew then that we were fooked.

5 points from the next 3 games is the VERY minumum requirement. I'm expecting 6. Would be delighted with 7. Ecstatic with 9.

You're expecting 6 from Hull and Brum away and Watford at home?boltonboris wrote:5 points from the next 3 games is the VERY minumum requirement. I'm expecting 6. Would be delighted with 7. Ecstatic with 9.

That little run of games looks harder than the three we've just played, and we got 4.boltonboris wrote:Yes, because of the players at our disposal.. Not because I have any faith in 'him'
I'm expecting us to beat Watford and lose the other two.
And I'm not exactly hopeful of that......
