indeed, credit and kudos to him. Not everybody was convinced by his re-signing but we'd be awful without him. Credit also to Coyle for re-signing him. I'll say it again, the squad is capable.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:It's kind of bizarre to see Knight thriving but good on him he's head and shoulders above anyone else at present. The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: 'Ull V Bolton
Just saw the highlights. Holy feck. The goals are shocking, but even more disturbing is the body language and general demeanour of the players.
Re: 'Ull V Bolton
He only signed half of the team that started yesterday. We're missing Wheater who he did buy and who would be an automatic starter if he wasn't injured. Mears has hardly played at all in the last 12 months. Same with Mills and Lee. Add to that the likes of Holden and N'gog who haven't played this season and it's less surprising that we're struggling.Prufrock wrote:He'll come out and say we were undone by individual mistakes, and we were, but that doesn't mean it isn't your fault Owen! By my reckoning he's signed every single player in that side yesterday, either as a new player or by offering them a contract at some point.BL3 wrote:He only signed half of the team that started yesterday. You can't fault him for re-signing these players because even if they aren't good enough, they aren't worth anything on the market and to get a suitable replacement would cost millions. To sign someone who is better, right now, than Davies or Knight would set us back quite a bit which, unfortunately, we can't afford to do. Offering a new contract is the only solution to keeping a good squad. If we had got rid of those players and signed replacements we actually could afford, they wouldn't be as good as the players Coyle signed to a longer deal.BWFC_Insane wrote:By my reckoning he's signed every single player in that side yesterday, either as a new player or by offering them a contract at some point.BL3 wrote:He only signed half of the team that started yesterday. Offering players new contracts doesn't involve laying out on transfer/agents fees etc that we couldn't afford at the time. Not in defence of Coyle, but that's a bit of a conflicting statement to BL3's post.BWFC_Insane wrote: By my reckoning he's signed every single player in that side yesterday, either as a new player or by offering them a contract at some point.

Coyle himself has said this is the squad he wants and the one we would have had if we had stayed in the premiership (with the additional expensive 'very good young players' he'd have added).SmokinFrazier wrote:You can't fault him for re-signing these players because even if they aren't good enough, they aren't worth anything on the market and to get a suitable replacement would cost millions. If he didn't want any, he simply didn't need to offer them a contract in the same way as he released Klasnic, Steinsson et al....
Quite simply even Coyle isn't hiding behind the squad, he's assembled it and he's man enough to admit its exactly what he wants and more than good enough to go up.
He's not made the excuse so don't see why folk are doing it for him?
Re: 'Ull V Bolton
probably just to piss you off - cos you seem to have a mission to change the minds of anyone who doesn't 100% agree with every little point you make...BWFC_Insane wrote:

Come on the goals are comedy gold.Where's your sense of humour. My favourite is the 2nd. Watch closely and you can see Faye take a deep breath before blowing two defenders over who manage to take out Bogdan aswell leaving Faye with a free header. Incredible athlete Faye. can YOU think of a more likely reason why people might defend Coyle? I'm all ears!
