Had a couple of indifferent ones, but mostly very positive.Bruce Rioja wrote:Please don't tell me that And Did Those Feet ever received a poor review, William.
My co-writer, of course, would claim the credit for this!

Re: What are you reading tonight?
Just finished 'Dead Man Running' - think someone has mentioned it on here before. About a bloke from Farnworth who suffered an abusive childhood, became an alcoholic then at 54 started running and completed the Atacama ultra marathon 3 years later. If you can get past the spelling mistakes (nobody could have proof read it) there's a really good story in there. As well as all the familiar pubs & places he refers to he's a big Wanderers fan too. 7/10

Just finished "Good Morning Nantwich !" .... Phill Jupitus' autobiog, focusing on his opening of Radio 6.
An interesting read.
Now giving Bill Bryson's "Down Under" a re-read about 10years on. Always a great read is Mr B.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

You should have said. For some unknown reason, Mrs H got me this for Christmas. I can't stand the bloke, so subsequently haven't even turned the first page. Needless to say she didn't keep the receipt.bobo the clown wrote:Just finished "Good Morning Nantwich !" .... Phill Jupitus' autobiog, focusing on his opening of Radio 6.

Launched into The Pope's Rhinoceros. Second time around, but didn't finish it the first time for reasons that I can't remember.

Actually, I'm only up to page 27 and it's come flooding back. Just put it down. Might pick it up for a third go in another ten years when my brain has stopped aching.thebish wrote:you'll remember when you get to page 156...Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Launched into The Pope's Rhinoceros. Seen the film, which was excellent, but yeah, it's one of those that I wished I'd read the book instead.gibby wrote:I've just finished "The Kite Runner", this Bookseller novel sounds good to me (just read the wikipedia entry...). Tonight I'm watching an Afghani film. In Farsi and Kurdish, directed by an Iranian director. It's called At Five in the Afternoon. After the fall of the Taliban regime - a young girl is determined to get an education.
Illuminates the gender debate with more passion than a hundred news stories - The Observer.
I don't think it's a comedy.

I'm sure that must be where the title comes from, that poem is so famous...TANGODANCER wrote:Thought at first you were in the bullring Will. So we have a film about Afghanistan, directed by an Iranian woman film director, where title originates in a famous poem from a Spanish writer murdered by fascists in the 1930s...
