I like Wasabi (provided there is more ham than the condiment).Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Wasabi in my sandwiches. (Ham sandwiches, or technically ham, tomato and wasabi.)

It might be a modern Western Hemisphere/New World thing but us traditional staid Englishmen aren't quite as enamoured of messing about with the classics.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I like Wasabi (provided there is more ham than the condiment).Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Wasabi in my sandwiches. Indeed. Something either requires mustard or horseradish, and that is that!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:It might be a modern Western Hemisphere/New World thing but us traditional staid Englishmen aren't quite as enamoured of messing about with the classics.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I like Wasabi (provided there is more ham than the condiment).Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Wasabi in my sandwiches. Well, I do put hot mustard on ham and horseradish on roast beef, but I have no problem with wasabi (which is the only choice in Japanese restaurants though I have none at home).Bruce Rioja wrote:Indeed. It's impossible to come out of Ikea without buying anything at all. Went in to look at their sofas (unlikely I'll be buying one) however, am now the owner of four glass storage jars with those clippy lids.

Completely different.boltonboris wrote:Wasabi pretty much IS horseradish isn't it?
Wasabi is a very hot and pale yellow-greenish paste. Wasabi goes on sushi.
Horseradish is an extremely hot and greyish-white paste. Horeseradish goes on beef.
Mustard (English) is a hot and golden-yellowish paste. Mustard goes on Ham.

What I meant, was that Wasabi is a Japanese variety of horseradish. Or did you know that?

I didn't know that. In that case wasabi would be alright on Kobe beef.boltonboris wrote:

Are horseradishes a type of radish do we know (as plainly they're not a variety of horse)?

Apparently not:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Are horseradishes a type of radish do we know (as plainly they're not a variety of horse)?

Bruce's cullinary tip of the day. Put horseradish in your mash when you're having bangers and mash. Result!

Gotta try mustard mash now - but I'm thinking it'll have to be English.Gary the Enfield wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Or mustard.Bruce Rioja wrote:Bruce's cullinary tip of the day. Put horseradish in your mash when you're having bangers and mash. Result!

Personally in mash I prefer a smooth mustard, so English or Dijon.Bruce Rioja wrote:Gotta try mustard mash now - but I'm thinking it'll have to be English.Gary the Enfield wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Or mustard.Bruce Rioja wrote:Bruce's cullinary tip of the day. Not overly keen on wholegrain in mash but mainly because I like my mash to be absolutely smooth.
Its ace with steak.
In fact my favourite home cooked meal is thick cut steak with a port sauce, fine green beans and mustard mash.
