I did have to laugh when Petrov got smashed in the back
with the ball

Never get into an argument with an idiot. i'll bring you down to my level and beat you with experience
Re: Cardiff City
The standard of refereeing is surely down to the lack of accountability in the refereeing structure. The punishments for wrong decisions aren't there, and if they were there would be harsh on the referee/linesmen for mistakes. What we need is video technology and a decent reviewing system featuring the 4th official (or even 5th).SmokinFrazier wrote:It didn't cost us tonight but it was a ridiculous sending off and we're now without one of our best players from today in the next match.
The standards of refereeing in this division are incredibly low. I was shocked in the first few games. Now, I expect the unexpected. Some of these referees are very poor, not to mention the linesman from today who got it wrong for N'Gog's cracking goal.
Seems all too many times we'll be on the bad end of a refereeing decision and then it'll be let go. Cardiff will probably think the same with the N'Gog penalty.
Re: Cardiff City
Seriously though, our best run of results and performances last season came with Ngog as a lone front man. I repeat, I don't see why people are surprised by his performance.

i suspect people are less surprised by his performance as by his sudden apparent confidence in front of goal...Beefheart wrote:Seriously though, our best run of results and performances last season came with Ngog as a lone front man. Perhaps Dougie has given him some confidence?

Feck me that were cold.
Utter shite first half. Total transformation of the team once we added a striker upfront.
Anyone who thinks KD should start another game for us needs their tangos dancing on.
Has Dougie finally seen the light? - I hope so. Shame Ngog can't start on Tuesday.

I find it hard to see those two men in the same sentence.BWFC_Insane wrote:I compared the role he was asked to play.....Jesus.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Comparing Pratley with Speed... jesus.
I doubt Pratley covers the same sort of ground that Speed did when he was a good 8 years older (presumably the numbers exist to verify).
My memory is of a fair bit of the ball going through Speed, a very tidy passer. Indeed I remember thinking it was him that made us make that transition up to the top 8 team we were.
Pratley being asked to do that role? Nah, only if we're talking in terms as general as 'central midfielder'.

Didn't we finish 8th the season before we signed Speed? Just saying.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:I find it hard to see those two men in the same sentence.BWFC_Insane wrote:I compared the role he was asked to play.....Jesus.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Comparing Pratley with Speed... jesus.

It's a totally different level, but Pratley did a lot of chasing, and basically played that up and down role.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:I find it hard to see those two men in the same sentence.BWFC_Insane wrote:I compared the role he was asked to play.....Jesus.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Comparing Pratley with Speed... jesus.

I don't think he's as bad as is made out.
But it was clear we needed more physical presence in midfield, and he offers a bit of that and also some athleticism in terms of covering ground.
He did a decent enough job in my view. Christ we need runners and grafters, we've got Mark Davies, Eagles and LCY to create, need grafters behind them.
Re: Cardiff City
Just got in, log burner blazing nicely and kettle on. My thoughts;
Last season, a significant number of people on here slated Knight. Another MOTM performance for me tonight - time to give him some credit. Warnock and Mills did what was needed, when it was needed and given that Warnock was often very exposed on our left side and facing 2 red shirts, he ran Knight a close second for me.
Mark Davies ran the midfield today and finally loooked the player he should be in this league. Andrews, Chungy, Eagles were quiet but solid.
The bloke sitting next to me was on Pratley's back from the first minute. I actually think he's an intelligent player who needs someone with pace in front of him. The 2 balls he played in front of SKD were wasted whilst Kev wound his legs up and too often in the first half he was forced to go backwards as there was no movement aound him. Kev Davies isn't a starting option for me these days but should now be playing the 'Holdsworth' role - bring him on with 15 to go when we are one up and need to keep possession.
I like Bogdan and I don't want to blow his confidence but we need some competition in the nets at the mo.
Before the match I was happy with 4 points from this one and Tuesday. I'll still be happy with that, but 6 would give us a huge boost.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Indeed. I believe it's the subject of a question at the UN next week, by the moaning that's going on.Mar wrote:Indeed. His foot was kicked & then his leg. Not hard, but since when was that the forward's issue ?
Their striker decided that Warnock bloking him off warranted folding like a deck chair & the N'Gog 'goal' was a good foot on-side. So Malcky MacKay can fck off.

Factor in the 'Coyle' factor, making players look ten times shitter than they are since 1888, and we're onto something!thebish wrote:yeah - we know - you told us we wouldn't really miss Holden cos we had Pratley...BWFC_Insane wrote: It's a totally different level, but Pratley did a lot of chasing, and basically played that up and down role.

I'm glad we've got Pratley. He's not an outstanding player but he'll always work hard and you need that in the Championship some time. He's a fit lad and won't stop running all game, so he's a useful addition to the squad. I wouldn't start him personally but I don't think it's a bad choice in this division, where you can rely on effort a bit more than in the Premier League. He was found out there but he's not a bad Championship level player at all.
