Bog is 25?
I had him at about 22/23. My god. He's cack for 25.
That punch-flap with no red shirt in 10 yards, on sat was that bad that if I'd have been in the Cardiff end I'd have laughed.
So poor.

Cant we get a loan now? Thought the rules were different in championship.cecil.bob wrote:Wish I could say I thought different, but I didn't. That said, I kind of feel for Boggers. I think he has some potential to be a decent keeper, but his confidence has to be shattered, we haven't had a clean sheet in how long? Whens the last time we had two back to back? Not sure what the long term solution is, but we ought to try and find someone to coem in on loan in January...BWFC_Insane wrote:At the time I could understand selling Al Habsi. However I was wrong and it has turned into a big error of judgement by the club.
The decision at the time, did seem to make sense. Hindsight of course is a wonderful thing in these decisions.
Fetch Fred Barber back and give bogdan a break and some quality coaching.Reminded me of Jussi in his heyday last season when bogdan had some of his best games. He does have potential.25 is still young for a keeper and he never saw first team football before last season.

Re: Bogdan
I too called it at the time and I too believe we could have moved him on (it could have been a free for all I would care). I don't think AAH suddenly got good after we sold him - he was good before and with first team work at Wigan was able to showcase it more. Bogdan had potential at the time but he is no Ali and never was. So, like Bobo, I did not think it was the right decision at the time - I might have acknowledged I was wrong had Bogdan developed into an outstanding replacement, but ....bobo the clown wrote:It was an error, & I did cakl it back then, to sell Ali. Jussi never failed to hold the club to contract ransom & though he'd been great we actually could have sold him on. Not for £gazzilions, but we'd have got something & both Arsenal & Stretford, to name just 2, were looking for competition for the position & he'd have taken his chance.
Selling a younger version to a local & relegation rival was madness.
Boggers is an OK keeper, but we need a GOOD keeper & he's far from that right now.

Re: Bogdan
I saw a stat the other day that said Jussi and Al Habsi are leading the "saves made" table in the Premiership. Of course, you could say that's because they have poor defences in front of them, but Petr Cech was third or fourth and Chelsea are top (though admittedly he does have Luiz and a former Bolton defender in front of him).

Re: Bogdan
Craig Gordon may be worth a look at, he's nearing fitness again after his knee surgery and is available on a free since Sunderland released him, couldn't be any worse then Boggers.

I know it is swimming against the tide - and definitely not fashionable - but it is FAR too early to be writing boggers off...
Re: Bogdan
The time to shift Jussi on and promote Al Habsi was just after we stayed up under Megson. Jaaskelainen was out of contract, and Al Habsi had had a great season.
By the time it came around to when we actually sold Ali, I don't believe there was a decision to make. Al Habsi was happy at Wigan and wanted to stay there, Jussi was under contract, everyone presumed Bogdan was the next big thing and we needed the £4mil to buy a striker.
I do think it was a terrible decision to bin off Jussi for Bogdan though. Other than being young, I don't see what Bogdan has going for him at all.

He wasnt terrible at WHL last season...he isnt terrible at all.
Time and coaching. And perhaps having the pressure off his shouldrers for a bit.

Agreed, when Jussi first came onto the scene he made worse mistakes.thebish wrote:I know it is swimming against the tide - and definitely not fashionable - but it is FAR too early to be writing boggers off...
But he does need taking out the firing line for a bit IMO.
Just to stop heaping too much pressure on him.
Re: Bogdan
Giving him more protection, which hopefully the new gaffer will offer will help him.
He has made mistakes, all keepers do that but also manages to pull off somevery good stops.
He is still young in goalkeeping years and I think that he will be fine.

Re: Bogdan
We sold AAH for £££'s.
We rid ourselves of Jussi for the ££££'s
Give Bogdan a break. He needs to be taken from the firing line, just as BWFCi says, absolutely, but he's the most promising young keeper we've had since Jussi. Ruminate on that.

Is there any need for this?bobo the clown wrote:That'll be due to you being a fckg idiot, I guess.bwfcdan94 wrote:still think he is excellent and if he had a good defense in front of him he might have a chance
Boggers looks very shaky atm. I just have no confidence in his ability to deal with crosses or even as a shot stopper. The number of times he parry's it into the six yard box is criminal. His distribution is pretty bad too and he seems to take forever when an easy pass is available to get a break going. Their inswinging corners on Saturday looked very dangerous mainly because of the indecision he causes.
Obviously a huge error in judgement letting both Al Habsi and Jussi go, we should have kept one. And lets be honest a lot of us thought Al Habsi should have been number one anyway. Quite amazing to see those two as regular premier league starters while we have an inexperience goalie. TBF he looked alright last season in a lot of games so it might just be a confidence thing.

Re: Bogdan
I think most of the mistakes Bogdan makes could be trained out of him. He's a good shot stopper but there are areas he needs to improve on, and I'm sure he would do if he had good coaches to work with him. A goalkeeping coach is a bigger necessity than a replacement for Bogdan, in my opinion.

I think Boggers will improve. Hes only 25 and with the right training and an improved defence he should sustain his place as BWFC number 1!
