I think what BB is saying is that people's happiness and mental states are not often correlated to their earnings.

And that Sordell may well be depressed or not, but either way as a football club who has invested millions in him, we need to find a way of getting maximum return in his performances.

And that probably, given the modern day footballer, telling him bluntly to "get the feck on with it" won't achieve that, nor will telling him how lucky he is. And whilst the money he earns may be galling to many, that does not mean he isn't a human being like anyone else, and his performances are affected by a wide range of things just like everyone else.

I understand where your coming from but none of us know what is up with Sordell so comparing Speedo's case with Sordells is fvcking shocking

The gaffer himself told us that Marv is homesick. It might not be depression, but I can imagine it's making him pretty fecking miserable either way. And, having recently recovered from depression myself, I can tell you that being told to "get the feck over it" will have a very adverse effect. So quit playing the holier-than-thou card, and show a bit of fecking compassion.

One of the lads got 'homesick' (even though he only lived less than 2 miles away) and had to have his mum pick him up. This happened on two occasions in a row before my dad banned him from any future sleepovers. He was later diagnosed as a nanny pamby.

6 months ago he came out as a gay.

It's possible Sordell has never been out of London much and was missing the bright lights, big city. Homesickness wasn't exactly accurate but it sort of sums it up. If someone is on their first extended stay away from home it's natural they feel a bit detached, at any age. I was 16 when I first lived away from home but then maybe Marv's just a bit of a big kid. Give him a week back home and he'll by dying to get back up north.
