Wheater & Dawson in with Mills as backup.. Knight & Ream off into the sunset.
And Ricketts if Nixon is to be believed.
Ah see, thats where it falls down a little 8)
Which would leave us ridiculous short seeing as both players are currently injured/not ready for 90 minutes in the first team...
We are after this Tollas lad aswell so Dawson & Tollas would replace Knight & Ricketts.

Why would we get rid of Ricketts? He's our best full back, on either side. I don't see why we'd get rid of Ream either. I'd get rid of Knight and Mears.

I can't see the logic behind getting rid of Ricketts & Ream (whom I rate), but the sooner we're shut of Knight the better.

Watch the games then. Soft, unadulteratedly soft. Not very good either.

Cost us the goal against Millwall. Sloppy.

One of the poorest players I've seen turn out for us in a long time.

I'd be keeping Ricketts unless he was on astronomical wages. Merely because he isn't THAT shit, and is versatile.

I sit in line with the edge of the 18 yard box so I see alot of our defence up close and for me, he is a very very poor CB.. You can guarantee 9 times out of 10 he will get out jumped for the ball.. he has the strength of a child and just gets throw around like a rag doll when things get physical.

I do think he could make a half decent footballer but not as a CB.

It's all a bit...unproven?? Sure there's room for improvement in the defence but rather the devil you know to some degree.

Yet statistically our best period defensively last season was Wheater and Ream I believe. I think he'd be better with Wheater alongside him.

Is that when we played 4-5-1? ie when they weren't cut quite so far adrift?

If there is any truth to the idea we might axe Knight and Ricketts I guess its worth keeping in mind that we can do that at any point, it doesn't have to be within the transfer window.

But why get rid of Ricketts anyway? He's competent at left right and centre, not prone to many feck ups, always thought he was one of our most useful players personally.

You rated him when we were in the Premier League. He's not been great this season but he has potential.

Why people continue to blame him for the Millwall goal is beyond me. He messed up but the penalty was because of Knight's ridiculous challenge. Knight is the one who directly cost us, not Ream.

Wheater and Ream were a good partnership. They were better than any other combination we've seen since Cahill left.

Wheater with Ricketts, for me.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Aside from Tim's brainfart pass that lead to the penalty, he was fine against Millwall. He's also been fine the past couple of games he's played as well. He's clearly benefitting from the regular game time. It wouldn't make sense to fob him, Knight and Ricketts off just because.

Not sure i'm down with the whole 'fine apart from giving a goal away' argument but the comment ref. improvement with game time is fair enough and it's a trend worth giving a couple more weeks .

Good god.

What about when Ream was just bullied off the ball in the second half down by the touchline?

As embarrassing as it gets.

It took two brainfarts to lead to the penalty, to be fair. We've said for ages that all our defenders are capable of that mythical "One Mistake A Game". I just don't think we should give up on Ream just yet.
