Do you disagree? Do you think no harm can occur?thebish wrote:care to explain what harm that is?Prufrock wrote:I'm pretty sure there is a lot of harm that can occur from a father-son sexual relationship...
I think it's fairly obvious that there's potentially a massive imbalance in power in that relationship, and one that quite easily lead to a lot of psychological harm.

I would think anyone working in his field must have seen the pyschological damage done to men who were in a sexual 'relationship' with their fathers.

I was asking the question purely under the premise under which it was introduced - namely that the reason for not allowing close relatives to marry in heterosexual couples was because of the genetic implications in offspring.Prufrock wrote:Do you disagree? I am NOT anti gay these people exist and have a basic right to live in peace witout fear. What I do object to most strongly is minority groups attacking the established order of life trying to claim every right for themselves without any care for the thoughts and feelings of others (usually the majority) in prsuit of their goal.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Is that hoboh next to him?

what, I think, is difficult for many people to understand in this position is what difference it makes to anyone else at all if a same-sex couple get married..Hoboh wrote:I am NOT anti gay these people exist and have a basic right to live in peace witout fear. I'm married - another couple getting married somewhere in the UK doesn't make any difference at all to my life - does it?
can you explain further?

Yet these rights they wish for themselves are already enjoyed by all the others - they only want the same rights. I'm not sure why. I've been married twice and.... well, never mind.Hoboh wrote:I am NOT anti gay these people exist and have a basic right to live in peace witout fear. Re: The Politics Thread
On a practical level, it may be that in future years a surviving Gay may have more rights than you or I by confusing the the gender role, your right it makes no difference to your life at present except its yet another chip out of the normal years old tried and tested path of life.thebish wrote:what, I think, is difficult for many people to understand in this position is what difference it makes to anyone else at all if a same-sex couple get married..Hoboh wrote:I am NOT anti gay these people exist and have a basic right to live in peace witout fear. and what are these future problems that you vaguely hint at - how might you or I be adversely affected in the future??
and - if you are advocating some kind of Old Testament biblical model for relationships - then you'd be advocating polygamy, and the handing down of wives to brothers if the first husband dies and the woman is childless?

Re: The Politics Thread
Look no offence bish but the scrawling of some ancient book that for all we know could be the 'owd equivalent of the Sun or daily star are not what we are talking about here. We are talking that for centuries structures and things have been put into place to protect, advance and nurture society, now small groups who really have no need to want everything for themselves as well. These things are in place for the vast majority not a feckin’ loud minority supported by a few wishy washy it makes me look good because I really don’t have an opinion on anything liberal types! Wait till extreme minorities want things their way and start quoting it was good enough for gays…. FFS why do Gays feel the need to marry in church when what they practise is totally against what these institutions believe in? I’m thinking of pressing for a licence to sell liquor in the local Methodist hall.thebish wrote:so you agree it makes no difference... what is your problem them - specifically?Hoboh wrote:On a practical level, it may be that in future years a surviving Gay may have more rights than you or I by confusing the the gender role, your right it makes no difference to your life at present except its yet another chip out of the normal years old tried and tested path of life.thebish wrote:what, I think, is difficult for many people to understand in this position is what difference it makes to anyone else at all if a same-sex couple get married..Hoboh wrote:I am NOT anti gay these people exist and have a basic right to live in peace witout fear. except, Hobes... it was YOU who appealed to the Hebrew Scriptures to support your argument... no?Hoboh wrote:

Hoboh, what about gay Christians?
No church is being forced to marry anyone. They get to choose.
So I don't see any issue at all.
