At Christmas time in parts of Spain they traditionally burn wood (fir, pine?).I first experienced it in Torrevieja and the smells are utterly delightful.

Received a letter this morning confirming that I have a place on a Masters course in Social Policy at UCLan starting in September. Unfortunately its conditional on me doing a 2500 word essay on health policy. That's my Sunday sorted then.

Serious question, Bijou Bob. Does that mean the confirmation is conditional on the perceived quality of your essay or is it perhaps some strange method of finding whether you are really interested in the allocated 'slot'?

I suppose then the only advantage is your maximum goes in at the last possible minute, meaning there is no time for a non-sniper to outbid it.
