that's about the norm for the private sector - many were predicting 2.5% for 2013
Well apparently I've had average private sector wage rises for last five years and this year was 3%

Sort of, dependant on a lot of factors.

Meanwhile some Scousers I know well are threatening strike action against an offer of 6.25% .... demanding an additional 5% as well as some odds & sods. Though to be fair they have come down from their original demands of 29% !!

I have explained my view of Scousers elsewhere I believe.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

4% here for the second year in a row, but diddly for the 3 years prior to that.

8% in two years??? You're one of those greedy products of Thatcherism!

As Glenda said - too many Thatcherites know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. I'm obviously worth it. :D

Getting the drinks in at work resulted in a trip to A & E after scalding myself with a cup of boiling water. Clearly not cut out to be a waitress!

Were you following the one cup on a tray rules advocated by Crazy Hoss's ex-employers though?
If so then sue them, but watch out for Sralansugar (he's on the case).

Ended up having to go to hospital from work once to have a chunk of my (now slightly deformed) right thumb sewn back on. Decided to chance my hand, quite literally, at multi-tasking: Holding a conversation whilst at the same time opening a tin of corned beef. Disastrous consequences.

Hope you're ok and not all blistered up.
May the bridges I burn light your way

I was on cup three and putting them in a box lid! H & S will have a fit! And I was under pressure from people who had gathered around the drinks machine with their eyes boring into me, rather than forming an orderly queue, it clearly all got too much for me! Thank you, don't think it's blistered, bandages off later to check!

Thank gawd it wasn't a tea-rage incident! But what were you thinking 89? a box lid  You don't think people my age lived through the Thatcher era and invented H&S just so youngsters could go about willy-nilly transporting hot cups of tea on a box lid, incredible.

Some of them boxes that contain reams of paper actually tell you to use the lid as a drinks tray! Motif were the brand. I'd sue if I were you.

Paper is inherently dangerous. I was alerted to this fact after I'd read the novel Fahrenheit 451.
It is the main reason why as sustainability champion (I shit you not) I have promoted a paperless office environment. [That and because, as a member of a large multinational civils business that does its best to cover the planet in concrete, I can't think of anything else that is in the least bit sustainable]

I used to buy millions of sheets of the stuff every year. I was not popular with the warehouse when I used to have lots of it delivered at once  They got me back when they put about a hundred boxes of the stuff in my office
