You'll have to come to Virginia then.

All sentiments aside, I'm glad, and relieved, the funeral went down as a dignified occasion.

That's like me saying "when you next come to Croatia". Which, as opposed to "go" sort of suggests the speaker is there already.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I can't believe this discussion has descended into farce like this.

It was clear the moment that this exchange happened...

That the correct response would have been something along the lines of:

"Fnarr Fnarr"

or

"I bet you do, sir, I bet you do"

or

"Ooh, Matron"

or

"Ooh, you are naughty, but I do like you"

Come on now. Basics people, basics.

:D strong leadership and good practise is what I advocate not dictatorship, well at least not in the long term.

Guess I'd better start reading Marx again I still cannot figure out what an an equal society is when anyone with a larger income is expected to pay 50% plus in tax as opposed to all paying the same in the green eyes of a socialist.

Bizarre notion. :conf:

Marginal tax rates aside, anyone with a larger income pays the same tax rates.

20% on the first 30-odd K - just like someone who earns just 30-odd K
40% on the amount between 30-odd and 150k
45% on everything over 150k

It's absolutely equal. As soon as someone on 32k goes to 35 or whatever, they cough up the additiona tax.

Anyway, I missed
David Cameron, without a hint of political opportunism, said rather than wrote:We're all Thatcherites now
this week.

But wait

In 1971..
Tricky Dicky said rather than wrote: We're all Keynsians now*
and in 2002...
Lord Voldermort 1st said rather than wrote:We're all Thatcherites now
Beware the Ides of March, David.

*yes, yes, it wasn't exactly that you pedant...

Get out of it! equal would mean £10k no tax, No NI (with admin savings) anything above 25%, no matter what they earn above the base level for everyone. That is equal.

No, that's a regressive taxation system. Go look it up.

As the rules stand it's the same for everyone.

In effect your method would make society less equal. Because those earning £200K a year would be even richer than those earning £20K than they are with the current taxation system!

And you are over twice her age, no?!
