So there's been an injunction lifted? Must be a relief for the press, the last few months must have been tough as they knew, but couldn't tell who it was yet.

I'm NOT suggesting he is, not in any way ... but just ask yourself, would you let a man looking like THAT babysit your children ??

I nostalgically decided to watch an episode of rosie & jim on youtube earlier this week. The guy on that definitely looks like he might be, but I hope not.

Baffling thing about all this, for me, is why it's all taken so long to come to light. Most of the ones being accused are in their seventies, eighties in a couple of cases, yet so many accusations are emerging out of the woodwork all at once? I'm not even going to comment on the truth or no, of any of it; or the extent of said sexual abuse, who actually knows what that is? Just all beginining to seem that people famous, or having a few bob, are the only ones in the frame. All a bit ....? .

Yeh it is getting ridiculous.
I wake up with a sweat on thinking will one of my classmates dob me in for flicking their earholes and calling them a speccy-four-eyes forty nine years ago. I can't remember anything at all about the events of that day, or even on any day at all that year.

I'm sure you'd remember the day you'd raped somebody (I'm not at all saying you have, by the way).

Regardless of time scales, crimers should be brought to justics.

Agreed .... but if you get that knock on your door & plod says "we have reason to believe ...." how do you show you didn't. Especially in pre-digital times without electronic diaries and constant monitoring.

Are they picking up ordinary Joe's too ... or just people famous ?

Probably for 2 reasons.

1) Because they are now easily identifiable still by their "victims".

2) Because the culture 40 years ago was probably such that those in powerful or priviliged positions probably felt they could get away with that sort of thing, and it's increasingly apparent they were right. The authorities turned a blind eye.

Anyhow Stuart Hall has admitted what he did by pleading guilty. Personally I think it's a sad indictment of our culture at that time.

Thank god for progress.

I'm staggered by that and also rather sad. The sentence will be interesting given his age and the length of time since the offences took place.

he's only admitted it because he had to - all of the victims (even though they did not know each other) gave pretty much identical and consistent stories of what he did and how he did it...

not that long ago he was doing the "poor me - these scurrilous allegations have nearly driven me to suicide" stuff.

i don't think his age should be taken into account - just lock him up. - and erase every BBC tape of him ever giving one of his wanky self-serving match reports.

Yeah, there's a telling interview with Ken Barlow on NZ telly a few weeks ago, where he says that the accused and victims should be given anonymity. The strange thing is, he's probably right, but you have to wonder about his motivation in hindsight, don't you?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
