If you want organic stuff then dried liver. Wainwrights at Pets at Home used to do it but I can't seem to find any these days.

Doesn't have to be organic but dried liver sounds disgusting which means he will probably love it...Lost Leopard Spot wrote:But it is addictive and he'll come back for more. I thought it'd stink to high heaven, but it was strangely odourless. But, as I say, I haven't seen it anywhere for about a year now. My dog's treat of choice is a pig's ear, but they aren't the sort of thing you can tempt a dog to come back with - they're too large and far too chewy for just a quick treat.Gooner Girl wrote: Doesn't have to be organic but dried liver sounds disgusting which means he will probably love it...
A friend of mine treats our dog with what looks a bit like a minty matchstick, thin and sticklike and green. He breaks a bit off and my dog drools and sits close to him... unfortunately I haven't got a clue what it is.

I think you'll find they are tripe-sticks. Our dog loves them. He also loves anything he shouldn't have, particularly cheese which he can smell from a mile away.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: A friend of mine treats our dog with what looks a bit like a minty matchstick, thin and sticklike and green. Yes GG, you can always try cheese. Dog's (well some of them) lurve cheese. Little cubes of cheddar.TANGODANCER wrote:I think you'll find they are tripe-sticks. Our dog loves them. Dunno if it works for dogs GG, but my cat loves lamb rogan josh, preferably medium hot. He also likes cheese and cheesy wotsits, but more than anything in the world he loves steak...

Cheese or smoked sausage. Something he can barely resist. Lots of tricks and rewards in the house then get him on a long long lead outside and train his recall then. Worked on my little chap in the main, but with other giddy dogs who were up for a play, even sausage couldn't tempt him back.
Never found a foodstuff that would prise him off the Posties throat though

Re: Dog Owners then.
When we were kids our cat, the fattest cuddliest cat ever (TM) used to go mad to the point of delivering crazed, clawing, blood-drawing violence upon you if you had a bag of cheese wotsits. Seriously. I've no idea what ingredient it was that used to flip a switch in him but you really had to see his reaction to believe it.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Dunno if it works for dogs GG, but my cat loves lamb rogan josh, preferably medium hot. Weird how they really go for something like that. Our lady cat loves skips (prawn cocktail). She always freaks out a bit when one sticks to the roof of her mouth, but it never deters her. I have to watch out for my ice cream as well. If I put it down for more than a couple of seconds she's in there until the ice cream headache hits!Bruce Rioja wrote:When we were kids our cat, the fattest cuddliest cat ever (TM) used to go mad to the point of delivering crazed, clawing, blood-drawing violence upon you if you had a bag of cheese wotsits. My dogs called Troy, came with the name from the rescue house and as there is a Helen indoors (human) we kept the name.
Prefer dogs, in fact any animal over humans any day.

My dog (proper 57) had his anal glands emptied once and yes the smell is something to behold!!

My cat also loves ice cream - he was trying to lick it from my bowl as I was eating it the other day.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Weird how they really go for something like that. Re: Dog Owners then.
Forget the yoghurt licking, the gravy drinking and the crisp slurping, THIS is the worst of the lot. How, HOW can anyone let their cat or dog share a plate??Gooner Girl wrote:My cat also loves ice cream - he was trying to lick it from my bowl as I was eating it the other day.

My dog spends much of his time licking his balls or with his nose in the aris cheeks of other dogs. Do I let him lick me or share a plate? Do I feck!!

Spoilsport
Have never seen my dog lick his bits or smell the arse of another dog (probably cos he's too small)
Have seen him eat his own sick and guinea pig poo though
