There are those that are keen to call her wooden, Monty, I'm sure. ;)

Some 20 years ago, a guy that I worked with, who's about 10 years younger than me, was going out with her. She was 16 at the time as I recall. My colleague was ultra proud when she appeared on this play on Granada with Stratford Johns. I can't for the life of me remember what the play was called though.

If Wikipedia is right some 20 years ago she was about 12!

Johns died in 2001 having been ill for years so this is surprising. Smith's first TV appearance was in 1999 in a show called Dark Ages (Johns was not in that) and the Royle Family also in 1999 (she was 18 then). So there was not a wide window of opportunity. It must have been about Johns' last appearance.

Seem to recall she'd just turned 16 at the time, so whatever fits that.

I mainly know her from the West End - Legally Blonde, Flare Path and, most recently, Hedda Gabler.

Anybody remember milk lollies? Vimto and milk mixed and frozen? Might be a bit too far back, but they were good.
