Is that not technically a Pitch Shirt Grimace?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Yes but it depends if you spend or pocket the extra income.......thebish wrote:Maybe eddie is struggling to remember those seasons in the premiership where we didn't run at a loss...BWFC_Insane wrote:
I reckon Eddie Davies is looking at this and saying 'we can't keep spending money without getting it back'. Which is fair enough apart from the fact that we need to go back up to have any chance of getting close to balancing the books to stop running at a loss.

Or Petrov? He's said nice things about SKD as well.r0ckpaperscissors wrote:Regarding Matt Mills to Leeds...
Another swipe by Dougie at Kevin Davies. Ouch! Time for the handbags soon.“I only want people at this football club who show the right attitude to being here – not someone who thinks we owe him a favour for what he has done in the past, or last year. Matt has shown the right attitude and is someone I’d like to work with.”

No but I'm not Eddie Davies. I mean when you analyse it, the club has been badly run for the past few years. Whether that was Gartside's fault, Coyle's fault or whoever, we've spent money on players had a large wage bill halfway up the premiership wage bill table, still managed to come down. Then we've added to that with more big wages on the likes of Mills and not been able to go back up.thebish wrote:And you, of course, would be calling for the latter?BWFC_Insane wrote:Yes but it depends if you spend or pocket the extra income.......thebish wrote:Maybe eddie is struggling to remember those seasons in the premiership where we didn't run at a loss...BWFC_Insane wrote:

Eddie probably looks at that and thinks 'feck this I'm not letting them spend loads of money on anyone who rocks up in need of a new club anymore'. And fair play to him.
Interestingly the Rhodes deal has been described by AN as 'like the Anelka one'. Suggesting that like then Eddie is prepared to spend on one and one only deal. Not sure Rhodes is that safe a deal like, but we'll see. Still don't think it'll happen, Blackburn will not drop below the £12M they are currently asking for.

Is that from one of your insider sources at blackburn?BWFC_Insane wrote:Blackburn will not drop below the £12M they are currently asking for.

Depends against which business model you judge. don't think many clubs make money. Think our recent run in prem was exceptional and the books say we were punching well above our weight to survive and get the players in. Relatively small crowds, sponsorship, tv appearance money. Even the edge we got by the Reebok / associated uses has been copied and bettered.
I'm in the Eddie Davies can do no wrong corner. Local bloke. An actual fan. Put an unimaginable amount of money in. Must be bloody difficult watching someone spend your money on someone your told will be a worldbeater but then a short time later its obvious they are far from it

I think everyone is, and should be. Seeing as nobody has come close to putting in what he has.StaffsTrotter wrote:Depends against which business model you judge. don't think many clubs make money. We have to be very thankful to him. And thankful that he is still backing the club now.

If they don't shift Scott Dann (they want 6m!) The price for Rhodes will come down 100%. They have to balance the books and they are struggling to raise any cash for the next instalment they owe to Huddersfield. That magical date is August 30th and if they don't have the dosh then they have no choice but to drop the price and sell to pay Huddersfield.thebish wrote:Is that from one of your insider sources at blackburn?BWFC_Insane wrote:Blackburn will not drop below the £12M they are currently asking for.

None of this is known. Venkys are loaded, they could easily give Blackburn more money if they wanted. Remember the inner workings at Blackburn are now much less clear than they were.ChrisC wrote:If they don't shift Scott Dann (they want 6m!) The price for Rhodes will come down 100%. It doesn't stack up that they can't possibly pay the 2.5M installment for Rhodes at the end of August but have agreed a 1.5M fee for Spearing.
If you're that hard up you're not buying premiership players. Despite what is said elsewhere.

They are paying Liverpool in dribs and drabs and could only move for Spearing once Olsson was sold. They sound loaded to me!

So it is said. But they seem to be able to agree something for Spearing that we can't afford.ChrisC wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:None of this is known. The source for this may be accurate with his Bolton news, but remember his once previously open line of communication with Rovers was cut last year. And he has more than a few axes to grind there.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
800k or so for Murphy and 2.5m for Olsson I think they got. More than enough to get Spearing. He wont be going there though..
Back in a BWFC shirt next season!

If Venky's were so loaded, I'm sure they would have not waited so long to put their hands in their pockets.

Not sure that follows. The Leicester owners are worth billions but Leicester are cutting costs this summer. Not everyone necessarily wants to pump money into the club they own.Lord Kangana wrote:If Venky's were so loaded, I'm sure they would have not waited so long to put their hands in their pockets.
I still don't think anyone really knows why Venkys bought Blackburn. Apart from Venkys themselves. And even they might be confused.....
