Ah, a seven wicket tail. Got it.
When do you see it as the best two sides in the world going tot-to-toe, when we lose?

without the weather, Old Trafford could have gone either way - why assume we would have lost that one?BWFC_Insane wrote:
We've beaten them comfortably enough 3-0. But apart from Lords it's been close. Weather saved us at Old Trafford and the other two tests could have gone either way.

Ok, it could be 4-0 but for the weather.thebish wrote:without the weather, Old Trafford could have gone either way - why assume we would have lost that one?BWFC_Insane wrote:

If we win at the oval can we claim a 5-0 moral victory?

It's a team game, Dan, and you win or lose as a team. And we won!!!!bwfcdan94 wrote:Bell has won us this series no one else Broad may have had his moments but the difference between the two sides has been ding dong, simple as that.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
As a neutral when it comes to The Ashes I proffer my light hearted opinion on the series to date:
Australia:
Batting: Frangible. Inconsistent. Suffers from swingphobia combined with spin aversion and falloveritis.
Bowling: Inconsistent. 'Line' and 'length' are foreign words - as is 'Spin'. Just as good as batsmen as the batsmen.
England:
Batting: Not very good at bowling. Wobbly knees at times but able to draw quite well on the ingrained 'We Must Win' mantra.
Bowling: Still trying to sort out what is 'reverse' swing. Given that Australia doesn't know either it's not a disadvantage. Is he or isn't he a leggie or an offie? Who knows? The Australians certainly don't.
Umpires:
Only the cricket gods know - I certainly don't. Mind you, I wouldn't take on the job for quids.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
There's cricket on.
Broad's trolling of Australia continues to work as Lehmann comes out with a STINGING attack which in no way makes him seem like a complete berk.
Aus win toss, bat first. Warner goes early, Watson comes in and is looking good for his lbw in the eighties so far. Rogers nurdling.

It was worth a try to look at other bowlers. I agree with Jonathan Agnew though, that this will be the first and last time we see this particular bowling attack.mrkint wrote:There's cricket on.

i suspect with this bowling lineup, the Oz will bat the game out of sight... that's not to say we won't bat well too - but I doubt we'll beat them with a day to spare this time...

Can't entirely blame the bowling line up. We still have 3/4 of our first choice bowlers out there.thebish wrote:i suspect with this bowling lineup, the Oz will bat the game out of sight... that's not to say we won't bat well too - but I doubt we'll beat them with a day to spare this time...
Watson had batted brilliantly. And Cook dropped him.
Flat pitch so England shouldn't have any problem batting on it?

as for bowling - on day one at the ovwel you wouldn't expect swann to be that much of a threat - so the batsmen know they only have to see off broad and anderson to have a bowling end nicely opened up...
you do have to try bowlers in test situations - and we have the series won - so I'm fine with it... it'd still be galling to let the Oz off on a high note at the end though...
