I like the fact that some people have excused him for being utterly shit, because some other players are pretty shit too..
Nice one.

My vote is he's a liability. And I'm flabbergasted by the captaincy.

It is no good playing OK for 89 minutes if you make a mistake and cost us a goal. That is Zat Knight.
Not a really shit defender but liable to make one bad mistake every game and will costs us a lot of points over the season.

dont think he's let a last minute goal in..
wheater's gone terrible in a wierdly fast way. and mills is toss. i'd play three at the back, so its all down to him. he getting stick anyway. when he were playing with dawson they barely put a foot wrong.
yeah

If he were to blame for last minute goals then I guarantee that there'd be a stewards enquiry as to whether or not he was backpocketting wads of cash from dodgy Far Eastern gambling syndicates. The mistakes he makes look that bleeding blatant at times. His only saving grace is that so far the team has had the opportunity to make up for the glaring cock-ups (not that the team has managed much in the way of compensation recently).a1 wrote:dont think he's let a last minute goal in..

I wasn't meaning the actual last minute of every game. It doesn't matter where the lapse in concentration is in the match, if it costs us a goal then we will struggle. It could be the 5th minute or the 75th minute. It just isn't good enough from Knight.a1 wrote:dont think he's let a last minute goal in..

Quite. Shortly before the QPR game, I posted this:malcd1 wrote:I wasn't meaning the actual last minute of every game. It didn’t matter how beautifully you performed sometimes, what you did on your best day, how many spectacular plays you made. You weren’t a painter or a writer - you didn’t work in private and discard your mistakes, and it wasn’t just your masterpieces that counted. What mattered, as for any machine, was repeatability. Moments of inspiration were nothing compared to elimination of error.

After watching Gary Cahill's brilliant defensive display last night, I sighed and wished for times past but not forgotten.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
Re: A case for Defence (is it really all Zats Fault?)
Can we all agree that Zat Knight really is crap. I know the first goal was not all his fault but he has to take a large chunk of the blame. The second is a typical Knightmare mistake.

A bloody lot of it is, yes.A case for Defence (is it really all Zats Fault?)
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: A case for Defence (is it really all Zats Fault?)
I think OD's comment in the other thread is pertinent here. Dougie dropped a massive bollock making him captain, and now needs an easy 'out' as they say. I don't wish serious injury on any player, and I won't now, but I can't see how dougie can backtrack on this decision without it having detrimental repercussions on his reputation with the squad, and it'll end up looking like a massive climbdown. A little niggly one might keep him out for long enough for someone to take that awkward decision out of his hands.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Maybe. Just maybe Dougie hopes that by making a big deal of publically putting his faith in Zat and making him captain might just pull the wool over the eyes of an unsuspecting lower Premier League club who'll swoop in and offer us six million quid for the useless sack of shite.

Re: A case for Defence (is it really all Zats Fault?)
He may have made Knight captain but there are a few ways he can drop him for a game or 2 and save face.
1. Get the science geeks to doctor the numbers and make it look like he needs a break or he'll get an injury.
2. Have an adult chat with him and explain that we need to try something different. You're still captain, but I'm going to sit you out a couple of games to try something.
In both cases he doesn't have to put him back in if there is a big improvement as he has his justification.
Anyway. Even if it upsets a few in the squad, they need some upsetting right now.

I suspect Knights attitude is causing the malaise in the dressing room!
