GG mentions she's off to rub Vicks on her chest and no-one, NO-ONE utters a word of innuendo. Well done chaps.

Should it concern me that I don't think I have been to the doctors for about 6 years.Prufrock wrote:Ha! That's exactly what I've done on both of my past visits to the doctor, which are my only two in the last 6 years!
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

That's what I thought, haven't felt particularly unwell so haven't felt the need.

which is as it should be.bwfcdan94 wrote:That's what I thought, haven't felt particularly unwell so haven't felt the need.
y'see, Dan - the doctor is for when you are feeling unwell. if you are feeling well - you don't need to go. feeling well is something to be pleased about. not needing to see the doctor isn't something you should worry about - because it means you are well. there!

I hate that phrase. I do. Mainly because they aren't scoops. Mostly they are other things that look remotely unlike what a scoop looks like. But I am sensitive - not admittedly as sensitive as Iggy, though.Annoyed Grunt wrote:"having a few scoops"

The pub lies at the heart of cultural, social and musical life in Ireland. Not just places to have a drink, in an Irish pub you can philosophise on the meaning of life, ruminate on global politics, listen to a poetry reading, tap your feet to a traditional session, feast on delicious food or just enjoy the quiet settling of a pint of Guinness in front of a crackling fire. Sit at the bar if you fancy chatting to the locals, or hole yourself up in one of the old snugs – private little spaces, which were historically designed just for the ladies. Irish pub etiquette: Pints are also known as “jars” and “scoops”, but always ask for a pint, NEVER a scoop. Instead, scoop is used conversationally as in “do you fancy a few scoops?” or “would you like another jar?” Guinness takes a few minutes longer than beer to settle, so your barman isn’t just being slow, he’s actually doing things properly. And when you get your pint, make sure to leave it to settle for a few minutes, too. It’ll taste all the better for the wait.

Quite happy with the Irish end, but knew I'd heard it in Liverpool: (you'll have to run down to "s" alphabetically.

Monty, you'll be romanticising about leprechauns next.
You maybe should Google a little less !

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: General Chit Chat
I've heard going for a scoop used throughout England and in parts of Scotland. Only Scousers would try to claim it as their own as they seem to think that they're their own little club, which they are, not in a good way. 'Unique' Scouse sense of humour anyone?

So, according to many, is God. Believe or not believe. Romanticize about myths or don't. Your choice but it shouldn't bother anyone either way. Not that I've thought about leprechauns for decades until they were mentioned here.bobo the clown wrote:... er, coz, like the over romantic view of Ireland held by many in your land mass they ... how can I put this ... are ... er .... a myth ???Montreal Wanderer wrote:Why should my romanticizing about leprechauns worry you, Bobo?bobo the clown wrote:Monty, you'll be romanticising about leprechauns next.

On topic, I tried to find something appertaining to the Nativity scene that used to be outside Bolton Town Hall in December and January. Used Google for "Nativity in Bolton" and got a link for a debate on here from last Christmas.
