Re: Freedman out!
Well the answer to Coyle was Freedman. Which has brought us to our lowest point in near twenty years, so surely the answer is anyone?
And if you'll do the courtesy of answering the reverse question, if we lose at Brighton, are you advocating sticking with him?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Freedman out!
So, for example, QPR are heading for the pit of doom because they are a relegated club who have been in the top flight for a while, even though they've got Harry two bulldogs *twitch* in charge, and their players arethebish wrote:that's ok - because it's the normal thing for relegated clubs who have been in the top flight for a while - not much the manager can do to stop it... especially if we've gotCrazyHorse wrote:We're going to be relegated again this season.ace playersrubbish playersok players and we just need one more to launch us to promotionrubbish playersplayers
It's all making sense to me.
It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the Price Tag.
Ain't about the (ha) Cha-Ching Cha-Ching.
Aint about the (yeah) Ba-Bling Ba-Bling
Wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the Price Tag.

I don't want anyone else in - I have consistently said that we should stick with dougie for the roller-coaster ride. i've never been a sack-the-manager merchant...BWFC_Insane wrote:It isn't ok, but what do you think the answer is? however - I DO think dougie should be doing a whole lot better than being bottom with the squad he has.
I don't think he should be so easily excused from blame by any of the following:
1) our squad is shoite
2) we have spent no money
3) we just need one more piece in the puzzle and the board/eddie/gartside are holding him back
4) poor us we have injuries
5) it's inevitable for a relegated side after a lengthy time in the top flight
what would I do? same as I said on the "what would you do" thread - I'd bring in a defensive coach to help dougie.

We're going to lose at Brighton. But it'll be the home defeat to Yeovil that'll be the turning point of the season.

I still think he's a good manager.Lord Kangana wrote:Well the answer to Coyle was Freedman. Which has brought us to our lowest point in near twenty years, so surely the answer is anyone?

But things are going wrong. Very wrong here.
I don't know what the answer is. I'll hold my hands up and say that.
I couldn't go last night but there seems to have been a mixed bag of some good and some bad. The general line seems to be some progress, but nowhere near enough.
I'm waiting for a compelling case being made by someone for a realistic replacement. I don't think we can afford to keep going through managers like smelling salts. If a change is made it would have to be for someone that really unites the club (including the fans) and really can turn around a longstanding slippage. DF seemed to have done that last season but now we have regressed.
If the answer is Lee and Phillips then I'm worried what the question is. Same goes for Pulis really.

thebish wrote:so... with hindsight - maybe we should have not sacked Coyle - is that what you're saying - cos it's the normal situation a relegated club finds itself in regardless of management?BWFC_Insane wrote: Frankly I'm scratching my head as much as anyone and wondering what the hell is going on.
But I still can't shake the feeling that this is what has happened to many relegated sides, (especially ones who had enjoyed a fairly long stay in the top flight)
Errr no, not even with the benefit of hindsight.

A proper defensive coach costs money. Extra dosh we don't have. What we need is a rights issue, and flotation on the Dow Jones.thebish wrote:I don't want anyone else in - I have consistently said that we should stick with dougie for the roller-coaster ride. i've never been a sack-the-manager merchant...BWFC_Insane wrote:It isn't ok, but what do you think the answer is? anyway - we can't really expect to beat anyone above us - so - pressure off the players for the rest of the season!

That's just short sighted and short termism. We could end up with more points after 10 games than we has after 10 last season*.CrazyHorse wrote:Great. Except... We're going to be relegated again this season.

Broadly speaking, adjusting all the parameters necessary to undertake such an evaluation - yes.Lord Kangana wrote:What are the parameters for this, win the next three games?Worthy4England wrote:That's just short sighted and short termism. Re: Freedman out!
I think most people are ,beyond picking a striker who appears to have some belief still. I dont see how defensive coaching would make the sort of individual errors or switching off disappear just as I cant see a striking coach transforming players who dont believe they are going to hit the target. A lot of it seems to be in the head with these players, do we have the sports psychologists on hand like sam used to have?. Hard to gain confidence without results so we need a break and a win and quick.BWFC_Insane wrote:Interesting idea.thebish wrote: what would I do? same as I said on the "what would you do" thread - I'd bring in a defensive coach to help dougie.

Beyond that if anything the team still needs a leader, someone able to galvanie organise and give a feck. Spearing works hard but is too young to command the required respect,Knight well that was a bizarre idea making him captain, the feckless tool has always been a sleepwalker. The same inherant issue as we had under coyle remains, no leaders,a lack of belief and worst of all the sense that to a number of players it doesnt really matter.
That said a quality centre half would make a world of difference as would a striker who believes and needs to score goals.
Like a lot of people I just dont see changing manager helping.Pulis might do a job, afterall he essentially took Allardyces blueprint and made it work at stoke.Do people really want that and realistically what could he change. Very little room for manouvre with personnel and would he really be able to instill discipline and mental strength in players who just dont seem to possess those qualities. May aswell stick with Dougie and stay behind the team. He's made slow starts beforeand I still believe things will come good.Blind faith I know!
