Therefore, we would have the same problems and no future plan in place.

DF has put a plan and people in place to start to bring the kids through in the next few years. This is a forward thinking plan which is going to take time to succeed this would go out the window if DF left as we would then start again with a new manager.

Fully agree, why would anyone want to take over our shambles of a squad. Better to let Freedman build his new team based on youth even if we have to go down again like Southampton did before returning to the top.
What youth :conf:
Have you been reading the development squad thread?
Our 'youth' seems to get early 20's then shipped out, hardly a basis for a rebuild.
Go down again we stay down, a busted Gartside flush!

This.

It's so rare for a team to be able to put out a decent squad of players promoted from the academy. The reality is that we get one half decent one every few years while the rest are league 2 fodder. An emphasis on young players will lead us down the divisions with no saleable assets.

None of you seem to understand the times we're living in. As someone once remarked, history repeats itself, the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.

We're undergoing an 80s revival.

We've appointed a young, Scottish manager who has previously played for Nottingham Forest - who was the last manager we appointed like that?

What division were we in when he joined? And when he left?

And did we not replace him with a dodgy ex-keeper?

Mark my words - Simon Farnworth is a shoe-in for the manager's job next season...

If Freedman were to be sacked:

How about a shout for Bruce Rioch, the supporters would love it, at worst we would surely survive the drop and as a bonus we'll beat Liverpool in the FA Cup.............. again

No? Ok I'm a nostalgic fool, sorry, dreaming about better times gone by

If he doesn't win against Yeovil it's got to be Jimmy with Lil Sammy as his Assistant

The very last thing we need is someone in charge with absolutely zero experience. Very very last. IMO.

Ahhh well, I wouldn't want Pulis and I can't think of anyone else likely to want to come and manage us at this rate that's not going to turn it to crap next season anyway

So just slightly less than the current incumbent.

So it would make no sense to switch for even less experience. If you are going to switch that is.

Bearing in mind we probably couldn't afford to nick another manager. Of the experienced managers currently out of work, who are realistic options, of the top of my head I can think of;

Pulis, Warnock, Reid, Souness, Jones, Cotterill, Laws, Horton & Megson

Not particularly inspiring

Pulis all the way! we've been down the (fairly) inexperienced route a few times and they haven't really paid off

Plus I don't want anyone who's been out of the game for to long

Surprised no one's mentioned Curbishley! his name usually gets banded about!

Having said that i still holdout a little hope of Dougie getting us outta this
