My thoughts to ... & I guess why the linesman (I have no truck with 'referee's assistant') flagged.malcd1 wrote:How was their goal not ruled out for off-side? A great finish but does the striker not go to head it but misses. Surely he is stood in Lonergan's line of sight?
You don't need to take a Brian Clough interpretation of 'interfering with play' to view this as such.
Almost like the ref admired the shot and wanted to give a goal (& it was a good shot).
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It was. Then Blackpool protested and the ref went to the linesman. Then it was given. Then we protested to the linesman and the ref.malcd1 wrote:How was their goal not ruled out for off-side? And it was still given.
All we're asking for is consistency from the officials and so on......
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

When Chopra came on at the weekend, my mate made the observation that his arms are longer than his legs.

He's got long arms at the bookie's counter, but short ones at the payin out window.Beefheart wrote:When Chopra came on at the weekend, my mate made the observation that his arms are longer than his legs.

Brilliant, cheers a1. I'd forgotten all about that. When I think back to that match my main memory is missing the only goal (Jules!) 'cos I pegged it round from the Paddock to the ticket office to get the tix for the away leg, which for some bizarre reason went on sale 15 minutes before the final whistle. And then the jobsworth on the gate wouldn't let me back in, so I snuck into the Burnden Stand for the only time in my life...a1 wrote:cannot believe i missed posting this-
